Traditionally, interpreters’ subjectivity has always been marginalized,as they are usually defined as "parrots","microphones" and so on.However, the immediacy and purposefulness of business negotiation interpretation require interpreters to always aim to achieve negotiation cooperation, and to dialectically unify their own initiative, purposiveness, and passivity. They are supposed to flexibly exert their subjective initiative. The present practice report is based on a consecutive interpretation of business negotiation in the field of door and window machines, which was completed under the guidance of the interpreter’s subjectivity.Starting from the stages of source language comprehension and target language expression, rich typical cases are selected for analysis.Starting from the characteristics of consecutive interpretation of business negotiation,it explores how interpreters can help both of the negotiating parties communicate without obstacles and successfully achieve the conclusion of business contracts under the guidance of the interpreter’s subjectivity. Finally, the interpretation methods that meet the practical requirements of consecutive interpretation, such as inquiry, explanation, complement, omission, and variation, are obtained. At present, researches on the interpreter’s subjectivity at home and abroad mainly focuses on written translation as well as other interpreting fields except business negotiations. So there is a lack of theoretical support for the research on interpreting involving business negotiations. The author hopes to verify the importance of interpreter’s subjectivity in consecutive interpretation activities of business negotiation through this report, and to achieve a combination of theory and practice. The author hopes to combine theory with practice by analyzing the problems encountered and the guiding role of interpreter ’ s subjectivity in consecutive interpretation involving highly professional business negotiation. At the same time, the author hopes to provide relevant guidance and experience for other interpreting practitioners in business negotiation consecutive interpretation. |
