A Report On Escort Interpreting In Nanjing Dandike Science And Technology Development Company

From May 20 to May 27,2019,the reporter was entrusted by Nanjing Dandike Science and Technology Development Company to provide a 7-day interpretation service for the company's foreign cooperation project.The reporter undertook the interpreting of business meetings,factory visits and dinner parties in the project.In the course of the interpreting project,the reporter encountered problems at both internal and external levels.The former is mainly reflected in two aspects: unfamiliarity with terminology and knowledge of power detection equipment and lack of cohesion resulting in obscurity;the latter is mainly reflected in the speaker's strong Nanjing accent and excessive use of redundant expressions.Based on the transcribed materials of the reporter's interpretation project and the existing research results at home and abroad,this report proposes the following solutions to the above problems.The solutions are divided into two parts accordingly.With regard to the internal obstacles,interpreters should familiarize themselves with terminology and knowledge of power detection equipment,and add appropriate conjunctions to the target language so as to improve coherence.In terms of the external obstacles,interpreters are expected to strengthen communication with the speaker,get familiar with the accent,and adopt omission to reduce redundancy.On the basis of a large amount of real corpus in this interpretation project,the reporter hopes that the research results can provide reference and guidance for future interpreters,especially those engage in the similar industries.
