BJP's Inheritance And Continuation Of India's Traditional Strategic Culture

No major country in the world,like India,is so flexible in its external behavior and diplomatic style.This kind of change can be expressed in China's diplomacy from "brother country" to "war",or from "conspiracy of Asian rejuvenation" to "Dong Lang confrontation*'.This style is more profound in the current ruling party of India,the BJP.We generally attribute the traditional strategic culture of China to defenses,and the traditional strategic culture of the west is attributed to expansionism.What is the nature of the traditional strategic culture in India?Cultural power is a basic,extensive and profound force,and the cultural research of international politics is in full swing.It is a good attempt to examine and interpret India's diplomacy,especially the BJP's diplomacy,from the perspective of the traditional strategic culture.This article attempts through the theory and framework of Johnston's cultural realism research on India traditional strategic culture.Finding the core paradigm of India's traditional strategic culture from the three man sources of India's political and cultural traditions-the realism of Kautilya,the "dhamma" of Ashoka and the spirit of Hinduism.Finding the strategic choice from to deal with the alien invasion in ancient India and the Gupta Empire,known as the "Golden Age of the golden age" in ancient India.The strategic preference of India's traditional strategic culture shows the core paradigm of the two opposition,realism and idealism,and the strategic orientation of both the offensive strategy and the reconciliation strategy.Then through the analysis of the ideological consciousness of the BJP,the Campaign programme of Vajpayee and Modi and the strategic preference in power,we find the consistency of the BJP diplomacy with the traditional strategic and cultural orientation.In this analysis,this paper draws lessons from Professor Johnston's analysis framework of Chinese traditional strategic culture and makes a choice according to the actual situation of the study of India's traditional strategic culture.It is an attempt of cultural realism in the study of strategic culture in India.This paper,based on history and literature research,systematically analyses the ideas of state orientation,international relations and international order in the ideology of Arthashastra and the "dhamma",deeply analyzes the party constitution and the electoral program of the BJP,and tries to realize its essence.Through the analysis of the cultural factors of the traditional strategic and cultural factors behind the BJP,it can help us understand the realism and strength of India's diplomacy in South Asia,and also understand the increasingly active foreign policy of the India people's party on the international stage.
