A Study On The Sense Of Community Belonging And Its Difference Of The New Citizens

With the continuous improvement of the level and speed of urbanization in China,the "new citizens" group has been expanding,and has gradually become an important group that affects the development of urban economy and the stability of urban society.Therefore,clearly defining the concept of "new citizens",measuring and analyzing specific performance of community belonging and the degree of group differences of the "new citizens",studying the influencing factors of new citizens’ community belonging,constructing the path of new citizens’ community belonging to help new citizens to better integrate into the city society has become an urgent problem for Chinese urbanization and social transformation.In order to better analyze and answer these questions,this study collects 415 questionnaire survey data of the new citizens’ community belonging from the perspective of social exclusion theory and systematic mode,using the methods of investigation and comparative analysis in Z City,Henan province.This study define new citizens as the whole including the older generation of migrant workers,the new generation of migrant workers,local civilization groups,the civilization groups by other means.This study measures the expression,the degree and difference of new citizens’ community belonging from the community identity,community love,community attachment,community care.This study discusses the major factors that effect new citizens’ community belonging from the living conditions,economic status,job stability,interpersonal relationship,community participation,community residents satisfaction,community environment for the future life expectancy,the sense of welfare gain.This study found: "New citizens’ community belonging is good,but there are obvious differences between internal groups.The local civilization group is the strongest followed by civilization groups through other means,the new generation of migrant workers and the older generation migrant workers’ community belonging is weakest.From the perspective of four dimensions of community belonging four sub groups have a obvious difference: in the low segment field of the community belonging,"community care" can best embody the community belonging and themain crowd is the older generation of migrant workers migrant workers;in higher areas,community identity can best embody community belonging and the main crowd is mainly the local civilization groups.Except the effect of community residents’ satisfaction the main reason for the difference is that the older generation of migrant workers and the new generation of migrant workers care community participation and community neighborhood relations most which reflects community care;the local civilization group more care the sense of welfare gain and future life expectations which community identify.Based on the research about community belonging’ difference this study puts forward specific path to enhance the cultivation of community belonging including focusing on cultivating migrant workers’ community belongings,taking into account other groups’ community cultivation,improving community satisfaction,taking different measure for different groups and so on.
