| Adolescence is a period of transition from childhood to adulthood,it is a period of conflict and instability.Children in this period will face a lot of confusion and challenges which they have never met before, including the physical and psychological changes.During this period, children become more independent and gain more self-consciousness so that they could easily behave aggressive and be critical of everything. As part of the left-behind children, the left-behind adolescents in rural China experienced or they are still experiencing the separation from parents. But what makes them different from others is that they are in another important period-adolescence.Compared with the non-left-behind adolescents, the fact that left-behind adolescents separate from their parents makes them lose the chance to get parents’ education, support and protection which undoubtedly makes this issue more serious. Therefore,on one hand,Left-behind adolescents have to adapt the changes which are brought by adolescence. On the other hand, they need to deal with the effects of the parents’ absence. This study sampled a certain number of the left-behind children aged 12 to 17 in M City J Province as the research object. To explore the left-behind adolescents’ different behaviors and to explore the reasons behind these phenomena, this study analyzed their family life, school life and social network by questionnaire method, participant observation,in-depth interviews and other Sociological research methods. How to help them get through both drastic changes in their daily life and the big challenges in adolescence is now among the top concerns for the left-behind children’s survival and development in China.By drawing attention to the lived experiences of this group we can start to address some of these broader issues and point to ways of better supporting them. This study is aimed to find effective ways to help them live a better life.Even if the living environment can not be changed in a short term,to help them adapt the environment better and grow up with good personalities is still very important. |
