The community correctional parolee refers to the criminal who has executed part of the penalties in prison(fixed-term imprisonment or life imprisonment)and has to finish the remaining sentence in the community.With the increasingly development of the community correction,more and more attention has been paid to the objects of the community correctional parolees.Compared with other types of the community correctional objects,the parolee is a more special group in the term of rights,for the long-time social fracture caused by performing part of penalties in closed prison has made them be confronted with more disadvantaged position after they return to the society.It is crucial for the community correctional parolees to get the supports of social forces.However,it is found that community correctional parolees generally face the predicament of social supports from the past relative researches,making them more difficult in the process of returning to the society and greatly affecting the realization of the correction effect and the goals.Therefore,what is on earth the statues of the parolees' social supports?What is the predicament of the social supports?What factors do influence the process?And what we can draw some judges and improvement strategy?These are the awareness of the research.This dissertation is based on the theory of structuration,which has been applied to the research of poverty in recent years.The community correction in China started relatively late,and the research on the application of the theory of structuration to the community correctional objects is very few,especially to the parolees.Sociology has always faced with the contradiction between the subject and the object on whether the social structure or the individual action occupies the dominant position in explaining the social facts.The theory of structuration,written by Giddens,has surpassed this opposite of structure-action,providing a good analytical framework for the analysis of the community correction parolees' social supports predicament.The theory argues that the social supports predicament of the parolees is the collective result of the structure and individual actions,in which resource deficiency and rule restriction are the structural factors and unexpected consequences and self-ability are the main factors.Based on the research literature and field investigation,this paper has made the community correction parolees' social supports predicament and its causes as the research purposes.With the help of survey data of community correction objects' social supports conducted by the tutor group,extracting the data of the parolees to carry out the research with the methods of qualitative and quantitative.In the quantitative analysis,the paper makes a descriptive statistical analysis on the status of the community correction parolees' overall social supports and the differences of the parolees' social supports under the different personal identity.In the qualitative analysis,the paper explores the social supports predicament and the genetic mechanism.On the basis of the above analysis,the strategies of improving the social supports of the community correction parolees are put forward from the levels of social structure and individual action.Implications of the research is not only to improve the external support environment from the structural factors which including policy,public concept and social forces,more attention should be paid to the parolees by improving its ability and repairing its social relations,so as to improve the efficiency of the social integration and social return of the community correction parolees.
