The essence of national interests is to realize the state security,which is always the highest thing in the pursuit of national interests.Thailand,which is located in “crossroad” of the Southeast Asia and in the core area of great power games,is known as “Bamboo in the Wind”.Its own vulnerability and external complexity determine the comprehensive selection of security strategies.Based onthesecurity policy in differentstages,itanalyzes the fourissues.What kind of security situation Thailand will deal with? What kind ofsecurity threats Thailand willface? How to choose security strategy and how to implementand presentthe characteristics? This is a comprehensive research process including political,military,diplomatic,economic and other aspects.To some extent,it helps us to better understand Thailand.The research on the security strategy of Thailand has an enlightening effect on the research of the same type of national security strategy,and has far-reaching influence on the security and diplomacy of the neighboring countries,especially the Sino-Thai relations.This article first divides the time nodes into before the Cold War,during the Cold War and after the Cold War and analyzes the security and defense policies in different stages.Next,it analyzes the domestic and international situations including international,regional and domestic three levels and sums up the traditional and non-traditional security threats.Thirdly,it analyzes the three selection modes of current security strategy.Finally,it analyzes the implementation,characteristics and effectiveness of Thailand’s security strategy.Through an analysis of Thailand’s security strategy,it is found that Thailand is coping with the changed external situation and facing a complex internal political situation.Thailand has selected three security strategic models: "balance of great powers," "regional cooperation," and "national self-help." Its vulnerability requires Thailand to formulate the security strategy in variety of perspectives,with diplomatic strategy and military strategy as the main,and politics and economy as a supplement.Thus it can flexibly deal with the emerging security threats.Thailand’s security strategy mainly presents three strategic features of "inclusiveness," "coordination," and "balance." The selection of a national security strategy has played an important role in maintaining the domestic political stability,recovering the economy and improving diplomatic relations.Thailand’s security strategy satisfies its benefits.It gets the supports of people,restores the political stability,enhances the potential of economic development,increases the influence in the ASEAN region and brings positive impact on Thailand.
