Research On The Government Support Behavior In The Development Of Mahogany Furniture Industry Cluster In Xianyou County

Xianyou County of Fujian Province has achieved leapfrog development over the past decade.With solid industrial base and relatively complete industrial chain,it has created a national well-known brand “Xianzuo”.An industry cluster of mahogany furniture with regional characteristic has formed,as one of the pillar industries in Xianyou County.However,The mahogany furniture industrial cluster of Xianyou is facing a severe challenge,with the rapid development of mahogany furniture industry and increasingly fierce interregional competition,together with a series of problems such as increasing costs of raw material and labor,quality supervision loopholes and limited financing channels.The government support behavior in the development of mahogany furniture industrial cluster of Xianyou is taken as the object of study in this paper,with the government economic function theory,“market failure” theory and service-oriented government theory as the theoretical basis.The research results of domestic and foreign scholars in the development of industrial clusters and government support behavior are used for reference,combined with the development status of mahogany furniture industrial cluster in Xianyou,to demonstrate the relationship between the development of mahogany furniture industrial cluster in Xianyou and government support behavior.In this paper,the current situation of government support behavior in the development of mahogany furniture industrial cluster in Xianyou for the past few years is summarized and analyzed;a series of influence factors such as outdated administrative idea,limited function,power and financial resources of county-level government,defective decision-making system,emphasis on short-term performance and superficial supervision work are indicated;a series of problems are also proposed,such as limited measures of industrial cluster transformation and upgrading,poor element safeguard mechanism,vacant position of quality supervision and insufficient force of advertising and marketing with the government support.On the basis of these existing problems,some suggestions on the improvement and optimization of government support behavior in the development of mahogany furniture industrial cluster of Xianyou are proposed from the following fours aspects,namely,guidance of industrial cluster transformation and upgrading,implementation of element safeguard,reinforcement of quality supervision,advertising and marketing.This provides a reference for the Xianyou government to better promote the development of mahogany furniture industrial cluster.
