Prison police are important criminal law enforcement force in the country.They play an irreplaceable role in maintaining social harmony and stability.Management is the process of decision-making,planning,organization,guidance,implementation,and control to achieve certain purpose.Doing well in the management of prison police is not only beneficial to improving the prison police’s job satisfaction,achieving organizational functions,but also can improving the effect of transforming prisoners into law-abiding citizens.Establishing an effective prison police management method and mechanism and improving the prison police’ s job satisfaction are important parts of creating scientific and civilized modern prison,and it’ s also an important guarantee for implementing and practicing law-based governance of the country and holistic view of national security.H prison of Shandong Province was established in 1962.As an old prison with 56-year history,its achievements and existing problems in management have certain representation.In this paper,we studied the current prison police management methods of H prison by literature research,questionnaire survey and other methods.The questionnaire has designed a total of 31 topics in terms of management organization,leadership,culture,motivation,control,and planning,etc.The management methods and effects of the current H prison are summarized,refined,analyzed and evaluated through the questionnaire scores.Through the analysis,we found that there are many problems in the current management methods,such as the lack of incentive measures,weak organizational culture,inadequate control processes,weak leadership skills,and low management evaluation.The lack of"human-oriented" understanding,scientific and reasonable management methods,and current policy and legal system’s insufficient attention to prison police are the deep reasons that affect the job satisfaction of prison police.In response to the problems in the management of the H prison in Shandong Province,this paper proposes effective countermeasures for establishing reasonable personnel selection system,operational assessment method,and strong organizational culture based on the principle of human-oriented,motivation,benefits,and power and responsibilities.These measures are operable and close to the actual work,which can be directly applied to practice and improve prison police’ s job satisfaction.
