The Study On Sino-Vietnam Relations Since The 21^st Century?2000-2017?

In the second half of the 20 th century,Sino-Vietnamese relations had three main characteristics: First,China's assistance played a vital role in Vietnam's revolutionary victory,domestic construction and national reunification;Second,Sino-Vietnamese relations were greatly influenced by external factors,and even in a specific historical period,external factors played a decisive role in the direction of Sino-Vietnamese relations;Third,Sino-Vietnamese relations experienced a transition from a "comrade and brother"-style intimate relationships to equal diplomatic relations between countries.The evolution of Sino-Vietnamese relations in the second half of the 20 th century largely shaped the Sino-Vietnamese relations since the 21 st century.The Sino-Vietnamese relations since the 21 st century can be divided into two periods: "China-Vietnam relations towards full cooperation"(2000-2008)and "China-Vietnam relations after the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership"(2009-2017).Towards the period of comprehensive cooperation,the areas of cooperation between China and Vietnam have been further expanded,the level of cooperation has been significantly enhanced.Bilateral relations are moving towards full cooperation on the basis of good-neighborliness and friendship.At the turn of the century,the delimitation of the land boundary between China and Vietnam and the delimitation of the Beibu Gulf waters were satisfactorily resolved,laying a good political foundation for the comprehensive cooperation between China and Vietnam.At the same time,Sino-Vietnamese cooperation in trade,investment,engineering and labor services has grown in scale,scope.This has laid a solid economic foundation for Sino-Vietnamese relations to achieve comprehensive cooperation.Advantageous external environment also creates favorable external conditions for the realization of comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.After the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership(2009-2017),Sino-Vietnamese relations continued the tradition of frequent high-level meetings between China and Vietnam,when the bilateral relations were seriously frustrated by maritime friction,the leaders of the two countries had a far-sighted vision to bring Sino-Vietnamese relations back to normal track.During this period,bilateral relations were once tested by the South China Sea issue,but cooperation remained the mainstream of Sino-Vietnamese relations.Increasing strategic mutual trust and promoting strategic cooperation to deepen in an all-round way are the main contents of bilateral relations in this period.With the strengthening of bilateral economic interdependence,China and Vietnam are more and more inclined to coordinate bilateral relations by using the economic tool,which can minimize the damage to bilateral political relations,this is also a new feature of the Sino-Vietnamese relations after the establishment of comprehensive strategic partnership.China and Vietnam are,to some extent,a community of Shared interests.The objective existence of huge space for cooperation shows that friendship,cooperation and stability are rational choices that are most in line with the long-term and fundamental interests of the two peoples.Economic cooperation has always been the main driving force for deepening the development of bilateral relations.The two countries can take deepening economic security cooperation as a new area for strengthening strategic cooperation between China and Vietnam in the future.
