In recent years,with the accelerated development of industrialization and urbanization,rural areas can no longer meet the needs of young and middle-aged development,such as economic pressures,education of children,etc.Many young people choose to work in cities,which leads to the elderly in rural areas.The number of groups has increased.Due to the migration of young and middle-aged people,the elderly left behind in rural areas are facing many problems,and social support is also lacking.It is imperative to improve the living conditions of the elderly left behind in rural areas.This study is based on social work,supported by social support theory and activity theory.Questionnaire survey and interviews were conducted to investigate and analyze 98 left-behind elderly people in Xiangning County,and to address their common problems: Insufficient support for life care,lack of support for economic material,and lack of support for mental and emotional support.The author helped the left-behind elderly to establish mutual help groups by conducting group work.Relying on the activity theory in the group work,based on informal support,according to the six steps of the team work,the needs assessment,the program design,the program implementation,the program evaluation and the settlement,to help the left-behind elderly get outside the family.Care,change the original closed state of the left-behind old people,and cultivate mutual awareness.On this basis,the author puts forward effective suggestions based on the feedback of the mutual help group on the living conditions of the left-behind elderly and the problems they face.
