Research On The Development Of China-Bangladesh Public Diplomacy Relations Since The 21st Century

Since the 21 st century,public diplomacy has developed vigorously.The theory and practice of public diplomacy are known to the public,and the definition of public diplomacy has developed from a one-sided view to a more clear explanation.In practice,it gradually moved from the marginalization to the center stage and extended to all fields of society.China's public diplomacy has achieved fruitful results after entering the 21 st century: in November 2001,China joined the World Trade Organization;in 2008,China hosted the Beijing Olympic Games successfully;in 2010,China hosted the Shanghai World Expo.China has more vividly explained China's national conditions to the whole world through these activities.Bangladesh is strategically located in the South Asian region.Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Bangladesh in 1975,the two countries have maintained a good-neighborly and friendly relationship,which involves education,culture,and health,especially in the economic field.In 2016,General Secretary Xi Jinping visited Bangladesh and the bilateral relationship was promoted to a strategic partnership.This is the high recognition of Sino-Bangladesh relations by leaders and people of bilateral countries.This paper explores the development of public diplomacy between China and Bangladesh,which is in line with the development of the times and is one of the effective measures to stabilize the good relations between China and Bangladesh.The paper is divided into four parts.The first part of the paper is based on the study of the theory and practice of public diplomacy by scholars at home and abroad to clarify the rise,development and main forms of public diplomacy,which forms a theoretical reference for China-Bangladesh public diplomacy practice.The second part reviewed the public diplomacy between China and Bangladesh which carried out from the three different ruling periods of Zia Carida(2001.10-2006.10),caretaker government(2006.10-2009.01)and SheikhHasina(2009.01-present).and the different effects brought about by the two countries in carrying out public diplomacy in different periods were summarized.The third part expounds the factors affecting the development of China-Bangladesh public diplomacy since the 21 st century from the perspectives of economic globalization,political situation in South Asia and internal factors of China and Bangladesh.The fourth part mainly elaborates on China and Bangladesh's thinking on further developing public diplomacy,and proposes feasible countermeasures for the opportunities and challenges.
