Ideological and political education is an important part of our country's ideological and political education work.It has played a very important role in the agrarian revolution and socialist construction.However,since the reform and opening up,the farmers' ideological and political education in China has experienced problems such as the status of marginalization,the formalization of work,and poor educational results.The main reasons are the simple and extensive educational methods,the backwardness of educational carriers,the complex and diverse educational environment,and the diversified value of educational objects.Therefore,breaking the predicament of farmers' ideological and political education and enhancing the effectiveness of farmers' ideological and political education are the primary tasks.The“beautiful village” construction initiated by the Party Central Committee in 2013 has provided an opportunity for improving the ideological and political education of farmers.The National Strategy for the construction of the “beautiful village” as the Central Document No.1 has for many years emphasized the four items of“agricultural production development,improvement of human settlements,ecologicaland cultural heritage,and cultivation of a new culture”.It has the potential to improve the overall production and living standards of farmers,however,“the government is more than able to take the lead and the participation of farmers is insufficient” is a common problem in the construction of “beautiful countryside”.The ideological and political education of farmers and the construction of “beautiful villages” are the same in terms of their goals,their relevance in content,and their consistency in the process,the construction of “beautiful villages” provides a solid platform for farmers' ideological and political education and provides financial and material resources.The ideological and political education of farmers can improve the social environment for the “beautiful village” and stimulate the enthusiasm of farmers to build “beautiful village”.Therefore,the farmers' ideological and political education must seize the important opportunity of the beautiful country construction,take the “beautiful village” construction as the carrier,continuously improve the ideological and political education of the farmers,and enhance the farmers' ideological and political education effectiveness.The author took field observations and in-depth interviews to investigate the farmers' ideological and political education in the five beautiful villages in the East and West.The survey results show that the “beautiful villages” of the eastern and western regions have acquired some effective experience,for example,farmers' ideological and political education around the construction of “beautiful villages” has been selected,different educational methods and educational carriers are chosen;there are also some deficiencies,mainly the weak sense of responsibility of the educators,their inability to work,and insufficient development and management of new carriers.The survey also found that the farmers' ideological and political education in the beautiful villages and villages of the eastern and western regions has significant differences in the objects of education,methods of education,and carriers of education.By analyzing the results of field surveys and the difficulties and causes of farmers' ideological and political education,the author proposes some strategies to improve the effectiveness of farmers' ideological and political education around theconstruction of “beautiful villages”: First,aiming at a better life for farmers,insisting that ideological education be combined with material interests,explicit education and implicit education;The second is to improve the ideological and political quality of rural leaders,and recruit outstanding rural talents to enter the ideological and political education team of farmers;The third is to flexibly use a variety of educational methods,focus on the meticulous and contextualized ideological,and pursue educational effects with infiltration;The fourth is to closely follow the content of the“beautiful village” construction,innovate the carrier of ideological and political education of farmers,and strengthen the construction and development of educational columns,cultural activities,village regulations,and micro-platforms to revitalize the ideological and political education of farmers.
