The media plays an irreplaceable role in international politics, its reports on international events can reflect the attitudes of the local people, and thus influence the country's foreign policy. So,it is of great value to discuss the news objectivity.Affected by the international situation, the New York Times' report on China and North Korea relations from 1965 to 1975,can be divided into three stages:the late1960 s,the period of Sino-US reconciliation, and the middle of the 1970 s.The first stage,New York Times focus on the process of Sino-North Korean relations from friendship to rapid deterioration, and then re-improvement after Choi Yong-kun's visit to China in 1969,as well as the reasons for the fluctuation of bilateral relations.During the Sino-US reconciliation, the contents of the reports mainly include China's support for North Korea's position in the Sino-US negotiations and the adjustment of North Korea's foreign policy, including seeking a peaceful way to achieve the Korean reunification;striving for the withdrawal of U.S.troops from South Korea through the United Nations;developing diplomatic relations with the United States,Japan and other countries actively;and believing in Kim II-sung 's “Juche Idea”.After comparing with the archives of China, the United States and Eastern Europe, the paper draws a conclusion that the New York Times' reports on Sino-North Korean Relations are basically objective. This is not only affected by the independence of the New York Times, the internal structure and operations of the newspaper, and the profession of the author, like Fox Butterfield and Harrison E.Salisbury, but also the realistic needs of American diplomacy to defend the national interests.
