Venture Philanthropy And Customized Philanthropy:Comparative Research On Community Participation Methods In Community Self-Organization

When promoting our residents to participate in the development and construction of community governance,community self-organization is one of the important carriers of the community governance activities.Mobilizing residents to participate in community participation,maintaining the sustainability of residents 'participation and cultivating residents' participation capacity are important issues of community participation.Social workers are playing an important role among these activitiesThis paper studies the operation of W Street Community Dreamer Sailing Plan,based on the Self-organization Process Theory and Model of effective community governance.Through case studies and participatory observations,this paper explores about how community residents take self-organization as one of the most important carriers of community participation,especially regarding the analysis about how residents are mobilized,how to cultivate their participation capabilities,how to maintain their motivation and enthusiasm,and ultimately extract specific and practical community work skills from our studies.Our studies will provide practical references for community social work service methodsIn response to policy changes and changes in community needs,the project has developed two self-organizing ways of participation:the Venture Philanthropy Method dominated by organizational advantages and the Customized Philanthropy Method that dominated by the needs of different communities.The study have found that these two methods are common in that their foundation for the development of self-organization is both based on the needs of the community,thus to create a space for residents' participation Community activities are organized and mobilized in an extensively and targeted manner.Their difference is that Venture Philanthropy Method pays more attention to cultivating the community's participation motivation,regulating participation process and setting investment.While the Customized Philanthropy Method focuses more on the training of governance capabilities,to enhance the capabilities of providing professional service Specific practical community work practice recommendations are summarized as follows1.To maintain the motivation of self-organizations'participation,it is necessary to provide community self-organization with participation space that meets the organizational goals,establish a feedback system,provide organizational development financial support,and establish a team iteration process2.To enhance the quality of services provided by community self-organizations,it is recommended to improve their staff training system3.Social worker should be playing an important role as a project promoter,resource linker,and enabler in the self-organizationCombining different stages of self-organization development,this paper holds an opinion that Venture Philanthropy Method should be adopted in early stage of community construction.When the community is further developed and the needs of community become clear,Customized Philanthropy Method should be adopted.When the needs of specific groups are diversified,Venture Philanthropy Method is preferred.Adopting different participation methods accordingly under corresponding situations can maximize the potential function of community self-organization,so as to meet the needs of communities and solving community problems.
