With the rapid development of China,China's increasing comprehensive national strength and international influence have impacted the international political and economic order established by the United States. The relative rise of China and the relative decline of the U.S have gradually led the U.S into imaginary fear and pressure, and began to change its cognition and policy towards China.Sino US relations have become increasingly tense."Thucydides trap" is a specific concept used by Graham,an American scholar,to describe and analyze Sino US relations, which reflects some characteristics of Sino US relations.Graham Allison put forward the "Thucydides trap" in the hope that China and the U.S can manage differences and conflicts and avoid the trap. However,in the objective reality, there are obvious cognitive differences between China and the U.S on the "Thucydides trap",which has a serious negative impact on Sino US relations.Based on the concept of "Thucydides trap",this paper first analyzes Graham Allison's articles and works, interprets the historical origin, realistic basis and stage change of the concept, and in the process of defining and discussing the connotation of the concept, analyzes in detail the six influencing factors that China and the United States may fall into the trap and the twelve strategies that China and the United States can avoid the trap;secondly,it analyzes Allison He put forward the theoretical basis of the concept, such as personal academic preference, research path and theoretical source. He analyzed that when the concept appeared, the comprehensive national strength of China and the United States gradually approached, the system structure changes such as the adjustment of economic scale and the stage of military strength, the change of American elite and ordinary people's cognition and public opinion towards China, and analyzed the realistic background factors of the emergence of the concept In the process of spreading the "sadid trap",China and the United States made an overall attitude and basic evaluation on it,analyzed the attitude change and stage characteristics of the concept between China and the United States, objectively analyzed the overall cognitive differences and basic characteristics between China and the United States, and analyzed the reasons for the cognitive differences between China and the United States, and believed that cultural and value differences were important factors for the cognitive differences. Finally, the paper analyzes that the United States began to change its cognition and policy towards China on the basis of conceptual cognition, which has a serious negative impact on Sino-U.S.relations.The paper discusses its harm.In response to this problem,it puts forward that by enhancing China's international discourse power, the threat brought by the concept should be dispelled at the level of meaning generation and public opinion, and by building the strategic mutual trust between China and the United States, the trust structure should be built to break the trap.
