Since the implementation of the big data strategy of policing, public security agencies around the country have focused on creating data policing and building smart public security, and public security work has shown a trend of science and technology.Compared with the traditional "sweat policing",young police officers in the new era have the advantages of accepting of new knowledge quickly, work energetically, and conduct Internet-related operation proficiently. They play an important role in public security police work.Nonetheless, due to excessive occupational stress and complex working environment, some young police officers are currently experiencing job burnout and psychological imbalance, leading to a wave of resignation among frontline officers. Therefore, research on young police officers' career commitment is of great significance to the stability of the public security forces in the new era.Career commitment reflects professional individuals' psychological state that can be characterized as a high degree of value recognition, persistent pursuit, continuous dedication and other occupational qualities that last a long period of time.Career commitment among young police officers is an important part of police professional psychology.Drawing upon the Hertzberg's two-factor theory,Price-Muller(2000)model and the three-component model of organizational commitment, this thesis focuses on the professional burnout, psychological imbalance and turnover and other issues among young police officers. This study uses working environment and social support as independent variables, career commitment as the dependent variable, and organizational commitment and job satisfaction as mediating variables to discover the current status of young police officers career commitment and find out factors affecting such commitment.Based on officer survey data, supplemented with officer interview information, this study uses descriptive analysis, correlation analysis, single factor analysis of variance and multiple regression analysis to test the proposed model. This study found that:(1)Young police officers have high levels of career commitment;(2)Univariate analysis indicated young police officers displayed lower degrees of career commitment than their older counterparts, but multivariate analysis showed that the two groups did not differ in their career commitment;factors influencing both groups' career commitment are different;(3)Work pressure and social support have a significant positive impact on young officers' career commitment;young male officers expressed higher levels of career commitment than their female counterparts;(4)Organizational commitment and job satisfaction have a positive effect on young police officers' career commitment, and they also mediated the relationship between the independent and dependent variables.Based on the above research findings and the two-factor theory, this study proposes several policy implications: First, pay greater attention to career management of young police officers;Second, launch ideological and political education targeted at young police;Third, strengthen young officers' in-service training and the selection training mechanism;Fourth, build a new type of police culture;Fifth, help female young police officers overcome occupational difficulties;Sixth, improve the right protection mechanism of young police officers.
