China as a vast country with a long history and rich culture which has abundant museum resources.The 2014 National Museum Directory of China published by the state administration of cultural heritage in February 2016 showed that China has 96 national museums,223 national secondary museums,406 national tertiary museums and 3439 museums with no ratings including memorial,galleries,former residence,etc.The school-based curriculum development of the fine arts based on museum have been studied about 10 years in China.However,the research findings,such as the discussion on limitations of the school-based curriculum development of the fine arts based on museum,research method,audiences and system evaluation,was tough to be transformed to the course practices due to the limitation of education and inexperience of curriculum exploitation of museums.In this situation,a complete system of school-based curriculum development of the fine arts based on museum was suggested,including the investigation and selection of museum resources,the determination of age range of students,the method of transforming the research findings to course practices and the teaching methods as well as the evaluation,reflection and perfection methods of curriculum.In practice,a series of art-based curriculum based on museum of Guangdong province was developed:ink stone lessons—Inkstone in the world,Chaozhou woodcarving lessons—Looking for a crab,ceramics lessons—Symbol of China and painting lessons of the Song and Yuan Dynasties—Write like an angel.The first two of this lessons were used for art education of junior high school in Guangzhou No.24 Middle School.The background of courses,input and process of teaching and outcome was evaluated.The results of outcome evaluation via questionnaire method showed that there are 71.59%of the students thought the curriculum gave them a richer experience to improve their artistic vision,as well as 56.82%of students showed interest in a deeper understanding of the curriculum content.There are 95.46%of the students were more familiar with the local arts and cultural heritage and 93.19%of the students were willing to their teachers as possible to develop curriculum of the fine arts.The required conditions and principles to be followed of the school-based curriculum development of the fine arts based on museum was summarized.The reflection of problems arising in development process was used to progress the theoretical support of the curriculum development.Finally,the development of school-based curriculum of the fine arts based on museum and teacher professional was prospected.
