College career is not only a crucial period of personal development that undergraduates have to face many choices which may determine the direction of their future life, but also an indispensable stage to prepare for entering workplace.Academic career planning has important influences on the developments of college students. On one hand,it urges undergraduates to use their intelligence, develop their potential, improve their capacities and polish their personalities during campus life.On the other hand,it provides a solid basis for them to enter the society after graduation. However, currently, undergraduates face various problems relating to study, life and career.Their academic career haven't developed well, they have little knowledge about academic career planning, have no idea about how to scientifically make arrangements of college life, they also can't prepare sufficiently for hunting a satisfying job or an offer for further study, some of them even waste four valuable years completely.Nowadays, colleges have payed close attention to this situation and college students also have the ability to conduct academic career planning. This research aims to understand the current situation of academic career planning through the investigation of undergraduates,to find out influence factors and finally come up with corresponding solutions to provide undergraduates with better guidance on academic career planning. This research selected students of freshman to junior majoring in politics and public administration in five research universities located in center and east of China as research objects.By doing abundant literature review,we sum up the research framework and design the questionnaires "Investigations of Undergraduates' Academic Career Planning and Its Influence Factors",which includes 9 questions of basic information,49 questions of formal investigations, total 58 questions. We give out 780 questionnaires among the research objects combining online and offline means, and collect 507 effective questionnaires. After conducting descriptive Statistics,independent-sample t test,one-way analysis of variance, correlation analysis, regression analysis according to the statistics from the recycling questionnaires,we finally come to the following conclusions:(1)the overall performance of undergraduates' academic career planning is fair.Their performance on academic career orientation, academic career planning's cognition, academic career planning's implementation and adjustment is good, however, the performance on academic career exploration and planning is poor;(2)undergraduates react positively in terms of personal traits, their self-recognition is relatively clear,self-efficacy level on academic career is high, but their self-satisfaction is not so strong. They also perform well in self-exploration and their behaviors tend to be rational, meanwhile they prefer to do things based on their own conditions and demands;(3)the overall situation of undergraduates' awareness on the surroundings tends to be good, among which the level of their professional identity is high and the association with peers is also active. They have enough knowledge about the services on academic career planning offered by colleges, and also will take their family factors into account when planning academic career;(4)there are prominent positive correlation between undergraduates' academic career planning and its various sub dimensions(academic career orientation, academic career planning's cognition, academic career exploration, academic career planning behavior and academic career planning's implementation and adjustment);(5)the performance on academic career planning have some differences among undergraduates from different backgrounds:there is few prominent difference among students from different school, genders and areas.Senior class students' performance generally precedes to the freshmen, students majoring in politics precede those in public administration and undistributed students, undergraduates whose parents are high-educated perform better on academic career planning, and those from cities also precede markedly than rural students at all aspects.undergraduates who are raised by doting and democratic parents perform better than students who are raised by autocratic parents;(6)there is prominent positive correlation between sub dimensions of personal traits(self-recognition,self-efficacy in academic career,self-identity,self-exploration and patterns of behaviors)and academic career planning;(7)there is prominent positive correlation between academic career planning and most of the sub variates of the students' recognition of the surroundings(professional identity, services on academic career planning offered by colleges, family factors, the association with peers);(8)regression analysis reveals that as for undergraduates' performances on academic career planning,on the part of background, the location of family and parenting style are the conclusive factors. On the part of personal traits and surroundings,self-recognition,self-efficacy in academic career,self-exploration,the association with peers and family supports are the conclusive factors.According to the above conclusions,we present the following solutions and suggestions:(1)undergraduates need to strengthen their own initiative and executive force in academic career planning;(2)parents should keep contact with colleges and actively mobilize the initiative of undergraduates;(3)colleges have to carry out the education about academic career planning actively and promote the association among students.Meanwhile,we propose to further study if we improve the quality of questionnaires and the selection of objects. We can also carry on some other studies through existing statistics in this research and find some new problems or inspirations.
