In the connotative development of higher education today,improving the quality of higher education should have the meaning.The students' academic development is the priority among priorities to improving the quality of higher education.The evaluation of undergraduate college education in China has been gradually standardized,but still in the traditional education evaluation methods,ignoring the dominant position of students in education.Students' academic quality is difficult to get breakthrough.Take the guideline system of discipline evaluation in our country for example,the ‘talent training quality' index mainly consist of the quality of the thesis,the number of excellent students and graduates,lacking the attention to the changes and harvests of students after receiving education.After the Occident experienced the expansion of the scale of higher education in 1980 s,students gradually became the centre when people study the quality of higher education.And the college students' learning engagement is a starting point to solve the quality problem of higher education.From the beginning of twenty-first Century,China has more and more scholars paying attention to the study of College Students' learning engagement.On the one hand,learning engagement means the time and energy that students put into learning.On the other hand,it means the time and energy that colleges put into attracting students to learning.Students' learning engagement directly influences the level of their academic development.And the development of students' academic level directly affects the quality of colleges of higher education.On the other hand,universities for Nationalities are established in order to solve the ethnic problems.Because of its particularity,they have an irreplaceable role in the higher education system.Their quality directly affects the quality of higher education.And it plays an important role in promoting social development.Studying the level and characteristics of minority college students' learning engagement is conducive to understanding their education status and problems,so as to provide the basis for the reform,and further promote the quality of their education.Taking the Students' learning engagement of universities for Nationalities as a starting point,I mainly use a questionnaire survey of undergraduates of N University for Nationalities.The samples are classified according to the national,like Hanzu,Huizu and Manzu,and other ethnic minorities.My aim is to analyze the status of students' learning engagement,the status of students' gains in learning,and the relation between students' learning engagement and gains in last school year.We can draw the following conclusions: a)N university students overall learning engagement;b)the level of interaction between students and teachers is very low;c)self assessment scores of learning is high;d)different groups of students with different characteristics are different;e)"born","academic challenge degree","cooperative learning","interaction between students and teachers","campus environment support" and "national" effect gains of students differently.According to the conclusions,this study proposes some relevant suggestions: a)perfecting the curriculum system and strengthening the practice education process;b)providing excellent campus environment and encouraging students' cooperative learning;c)improving the professional quality of teachers,and establishing the harmonious relationship between teachers and students;d)students should take a positive attitude to learning.
