A Study On The Impact Of Mate Selection On Male Migrant Workers' Employment Mobility

Since the 1980s,the loss of women under the population structure of gender imbalance will cause male "marriage squeeze" in first marriage market,which changes the male mating behavior.In order to solve the mating difficulties and take a favorable competitive position in the marriage market,a lot of young men flow to cities as migrant workers to compete for female resources across regions,fighting for their marriage.The migrant workers also encountered dilemma of mate selection in cities.To find the significant other,the spouse standard,strategies,and the result of the mating are directly or indirectly affect their employment.Based on the investigation of migrant workers of outflow and inflow areas,the study analyzes the relations between the mating selection of the male migrant workers and their employment flow.Upon relevant theories,the thesis analyzes the employment flow strategies based on the mate selection,and construct a causal explanation model in the relationship of mating selection and employment mobility,and put forward rational proposals to solve the difficulties in rural unmarried male migrant workers.The full text is divided into three parts.The first part of this paper consists of first chapter and the second chapter.The first chapter explains the background and the subject.It focuses on the relationship between mate selection dilemma and job mobility of the rural unmarried male migrant workers,and illustrates the significance of this topic from two aspects of theory and practice.In the second chapter,it reviews the current researches and theories,and put forward the research methods and objects of this paper.The mating behavior and standard of rural unmarried male migrant workers correspond to mating strategies.Spouse plights also suggest they choose better mating strategies,which means that the mating strategies also affect employment strategies.This paper defines the concept of "employment mobility","mate selection" and "male migrant workers",and pays particular attention to the mating selection and employment mobility of the new generation of male migrant workers.The second part consists of chapter 3,chapter 4 and chapter 5 and mainly analyzes the influence of employment mobility by the rural migrant workers mating.The third chapter introduces the basic conditions of outflow area and analyzes its pattern of marriage and the selection criteria of female migrant workers.It also points out the dilemma of mating of unmarried male youth in the village and their good wish to finding a wife in the cities.The fourth chapter focuses on the mating situation of unmarried female migrant workers and finds that they encounter another new mating difficulty.It notices that most of them fail to select their other half.It analyzes the characteristics of the successful male migrant workers and the problems of the failing male migrant workers.On this foundation,it sums up the mate selection models of the male migrant workers in the cities.The fifth chapter analyzes the influence of the mating strategies of male migrant workers to their employment flow in cities under the dilemma of mating.The influences mainly display from two aspects: ascending mobility and horizontal/descending mobility and points out that these flows,in turn,influence the outcome of mating selection.The third part is the conclusion.The article finds that mate choices can promote the employment mobility,but the mobility is not necessarily conducive to their mate selection.It is the direction of government,enterprises and male migrant workers to make use of the flow to solve the dilemma of mate selection of unmarried male migrant workers.
