Since the reform and opening up,with the gradual advancement of China's marketization and industrialization process, surplus rural labor forces have flowed to the coastal cities in the southeast, and a large number of floating populations have appeared in the cities.Due to the long-standing existence of the dual urban-rural system in China, the value of the rural floating population has been affected, and the work, life, and social life in the city have been affected. With the development of society, peasant workers have become modernized internally.New generations of migrant workers born after the 1980s have been continuously expanding in the size of the floating population.Their marital affairs has become a hot topic in academic circles. This article is based on the data of the National Survey of Rural Workers in Cities/Entrepreneurs organized by the Research Group on Urban Floating Population Services Management in January and February 2012.It shows the the status of new generation migrant workers' mate selection and its affecting factors through descriptive statistics and binary logistic regression. The main findings are as follows:First,as a political capital, compared with non-Party members, party membership still plays an important role.New generation migrant workers who have party membership are more likely to have a mate.Second, compared with the new generation of migrant workers in the eastern developed regions, the central region is obviously less likely to have a love partner. Finally, personal achievements and social interactions have a significant impact on the mate selection of the new generation of migrant workers. The social interaction in the model is more powerful and there is a greater probability of explaining the change in the mating status of the new generation of migrant workers. The specific explanation is as follows:Compared with three years ago,the self-evaluation of socio-economic status also has a significant impact on the status of mate selection.Compared with the floating population with self-evaluation,the decline in self-evaluation is less likely to find a love partner;the more frequent social interaction with fellow urban residents, the easier it is to find a mate;Compared with those who did not think of intermarriage with citizens, those who had thought about it but had difficulties were more likely to have a mate;compared with those who did not want to marry citizens, the new generation of migrant workers who had thought about and looking for opportunities were even less likely to have a mate;compared with those who didn,t want to marry citizens, new generation of migrant workers who had tried but failed are more likely to have a mate. The factors affecting the mate selection of the new generation of migrant workers are extremely complex. In this study, because the sample size and questionnaire design are limited,it has some deficiencies on the analysis and explanation. However,in the past research, personal achievements and social interactions are indeed important factors affecting migrant workers' mating. This study also basically validated previous studies.Based on this study, the government and the society should work together to provide a good platform for the personal development and social interaction of migrant workers,so as to help the new generation of migrant workers solve the problem more effectively.
