The Chinese language teaching in Yogyakarta,Indonesia started earlier,ever held in the past(early independence years)but has been closed by the Indonesian government for more than thirty years for historical reasons.In 2002,after the Indonesian government allowing the resumption of Chinese language teaching,Yogyakarta began to redevelop Chinese classes in many schools.At that time,most of the Chinese teachers in Chinese classes were older Chinese generation,and very few teachers had Chinese teaching experience,and there were no Chinese textbooks available.In contrast,the current situation of Chinese teaching has changed a lot,not only beginning to train a new generation of Chinese teachers,but also composing local Chinese textbooks and so on.This research mainly adopts the three methods: interview,observation,and questionnaire to carry out the investigation and analysis of the current situation of Chinese teaching in three private primary schools Yogyakarta,Indonesia.In order to understand the specific Chinese teaching of primary school in Yogyakarta city,I selected Budya Wacana Christian primary school,Kalam Kudus Christian primary school and Mutiara Persada primary school,these three private primary schools in Yogyakarta city as the main subject of investigated.This paper is divided into five parts,including introduction and four chapters.Introduction,elaborated the research background,the research object,the research purpose and the significance,the research content and the research method and so on.The first chapter,is about the investigation of the current situation of Chinese teaching in Yogyakarta city,including the basic situation of the school,the teachers,the students,the teaching materials,the Chinese teaching methods and the test methods.The second chapter,through the investigation and analysis,find out the advantages of the three schools,the difficulties students have in learning Chinese,and the problems in the primary Chinese teaching.The third chapter,through the analysis of some problems existing in Chinese teaching,propose some suggestions to Chinese teaching.The fourth chapter,is the epilogue.
