Homework is very important in Chinese teaching because it can not only increase the students test scores and communication capability,but also it can develop the students' interest in Chinese and good habits of learning.The author has done a research on Chinese homework in a primary school in Indonesia as it is found that the teachers are not satisfied with the students' performance in homework.The paper is started with the achievement of previous homework research including homework purpose,homework design,homework supervision and response.Then,some problems are founded on the basis of an analysis of the questionnaire survey in the primary school including the problems of school policy which are set beyond the students ability,exam-oriented and lack of detailed rules,the problems produced by teacher in the period of designing and checking homework which are homework inappropriate for the students,homework non-diversity and ineffective supervision and response,the problems of the students' poor awareness,learning habits and mastering of knowledge in the class.From the aspect of teacher,the author provided five strategies to resolve the problems,which are more practice,prepared fully for lesson,cultivating student interest and good habits,formulating and practicing detailed rules and more communication with parents.Then these strategies are practiced in two lessons which adapted from teaching material of Chinese language for primary school published by Marshall Cavendish in Singapore.
