Teachers' authority,considered as the basis of achieving teaching objectives,supporting school education and ensuring education order,plays an indispensable role in education.However,with the changing of the society and the deepening of new curriculum reform,the education concept that teachers and students should have equal relationship is advocated by more and more people,which makes traditional teachers' authority faced with great challenge.Now traditional teachers' authority is confronted with many problems such as the weakening of teachers' legal authority,traditional authority,knowledge authority and charismatic authority.Some people misunderstand the meaning of teachers' authority,and some of them even negate it.As a result,it is high time that we should re-create teachers' authority.Based on the previous theoretical research achievements and the real situation of dialogue teaching,this paper tries to analyze the reformation and reflection of teachers' authority in dialogue teaching with the method of observation,interview and case analysis.It also studies how to reinstate the value of teachers' authority,re-create the faith of “being a teacher” and ensure teachers' authority working so that a new form of teachers' authority which is suitable for the new curriculum reform and the new teacher-student relationship can be found.The main contents of this study are as follows.The preface part gives a brief introduction of this paper including stating the reason and value of this research,expounding the present research situation of dialogue and teachers' authority and presenting the theory and main research methods,which provide sufficient theoretical basis to this study.The body part first describes and analyzes the changing process of teachers' authority in dialogue teaching in the new curriculum reform from the aspects of legal authority,traditional authority,knowledge authority and charismatic authority.And then it explores how teachers' authority comes into being and how it works in dialogue teaching and analyses the formation of new teachers' authority as well as its predicament.Finally,with the concept of new student-teacher relationship,the body part offers some efficient suggestions on understanding and building a reasonable new teachers' authority after analyzing and reflecting the mutual support relationship between teachers' authority and dialogue teaching.
