In the context of the new curriculum reform,it is required to bring students' dominant role into full play in classes.As an important way of teacher-student interaction,asking questions is such a teaching method that helps to highlight students' main role in classes and gives play to their potential.The method is an essential part of classroom teaching and also an important means of achieving effective teaching.The efficiency of asking questions,therefore,has a direct impact on the quality of teaching.So,what is the current situation of questions asking in geography classes of senior high schools? What are the problems and deficiencies? What can geography teachers do in the future to improve the efficiency of asking questions in their teaching? In view of this,it is necessary to do a research on questions asking in geography classes of senior high schools.At the very beginning of the research,great efforts were made to search and read a large amount of literature,learning about the general situation of questions asking in geography classes of senior high schools.Then more work was done to make a summary of theoretical ideas and have a clear definition of relevant concepts.E Middle School in Qin'an County was selected as the object of investigation.Questionnaires for students and interview outlines for teachers were designed according to the purpose of the study.Questionnaires and interviews were conducted on those students of six classes and six geography teachers at E Middle School in Qin'an County with a view to understanding the situation of questions asking in geography classes from two dimensions of teachers and students.In addition,an observation scale was prepared for questions asking in geography classes.Further efforts were made to observe the teaching records of six geography teachers of E Middle School in Qinan County to see the interaction between teachers and students in actual classes.Finally,EXCEL software was used to collect data.The problems and shortcomings of questions asking in geography classes were found after a detailed analysis.Meanwhile,a number of suggestions was put forward accordingly.The case study of E Middle School in Qin'an County is to investigate the situationof questions asking in geography classes of senior high schools.The following conclusions have been drawn.First,it is universally acknowledged by geography teachers that asking questions has an effect on the quality of classroom teaching.Second,the dialog model is now widely adopted by geography teachers in teaching.Third,geography classes are glutted with plenty of problems such as unreasonable time allocation,low participation passion,less new question designs,weak initiative,less diversified methods of asking questions,unreasonable responses.A set of suggestions have been proposed for allocating time rationally,making students more interested in,getting more students involved,focusing on the integration of subject knowledge,motivating students to think about through proper responses and improving teachers' qualities.That is how the research could give some reference for geography teachers to ask questions in their classes.
