Extracurricular reading plays an important part in Chinese teaching.As a result,a series of senior high school Chinese textbooks of new edition published by People's Education Press has included guidance units of classics,and some classics have been put to use during compulsory education.However,with the background of College entrance examination and examination-oriented education system,teachers,students and parents do not pay close attention to extracurricular reading.Because of this situation,the research about extracurricular reading in high school is selected to seek the solution to extracurricular reading problems,hoping to open the door to the Extracurricular reading with the help of the teaching experience.There are four parts in this paper,the Introduction first discusses the idea of new curriculum reform and College Entrance Examination,showing the education authorities'requirements for extracurricular reading.Then the Introduction chiefly describes the current situation of extracurricular reading in our country and abroad,thus providing solid foundation of theories for further research.The first chapter analyses questionnaires about extracurricular reading in 4 senior high schools in Enshi,finding out some problems by showing the current situation.Elements like students' reading habits,teachers' proper guidance,parents' support and companionship,time arrangements can have great effect on extracurricular reading of high school students.The second chapter displays some activities launched like questionnaires,Scholarly Campus,a letter to parents,parents' meeting,lectures on the theme of I Love Extracurricular Reading.Finally,the third chapter summarizes the evaluation system,which is closely connected with the serious situation of Extracurricular reading nowadays.The evaluation system can arouse students' interest into extracurricular reading.The writer tries to make full use of various evaluation system on performance to make extracurricular reading better.Based on numerous researches,papers and masterpiece on Chinese extracurricular reading,the paper tries to connect the theories with teaching practice,in the hope of bringing more educators to participate in the study and practice of this field.
