With the development of new curriculum reform,geography core literacy has become a hot topic in education.Regional cognitive ability is an important part of geographical core literacy,and the features of geographical images,such as concise and intuitive,dynamic and multi-dimensional,are of great significance to cultivate regional cognitive ability.In view of this,this article combed the related research articles about regional cognitive and geographical image,and established the starting point of this topic research.Establish classroom observation scale through the hierarchy of regional cognitive elements.Observe and analyze the present situation and problems which the current high school geography teachers and students use geographic images to train area of cognitive ability.Then put forward strategies of using the geographic image to develop regional cognitive ability according to the reasons.This article is composed of the following six parts:The first part is the introduction.Through combing the related articles about regional cognitive and geographical image,it states domestic and foreign research status,clarifys the background and significance of the topic,and explains the research plan of this paper,including research goals,research contents,research methods and research ideas.The second part is the definition of related concepts and theoretical basis.On the one hand,it defines the basic concepts of "regional cognition" and "geographical image";On the other hand,it states the theoretical basis of this study,namely,geography teaching theory,multiple intelligence theory,modern cartography theory and cognitive learning theory.The third part is the construction of classroom observation scale.First of all,it determines the principles of scale construction,that is to say,the principle of scale construction includes the principle of integrity,the principle of hierarchy,the principle of development and the principle of operation.Secondly,it establishs the basis of the scale construction,namely,the high school geography curriculum standard and the elements about the area cognition ability;Finally,through the area of cognitive ability index hierarchy,it builds level diagnosis tables that teachers and students how to use geography images to cultivate regional cognitive abilities and their respective classroom observation scales.The fourth part is the survey about present situation and analysis of its causes.First,select related cases to get the levels of 24 geography teachers for cultivating regional cognitive ability and the levels of students'regional cognitive ability through observing and analyzing these cases.Second,analyze the reason of the present situation through questionnaire survey and interview,it is concluded that the following eight reasons:strong regional beliefs of teachers;the ability of teachers about developing geography image resources is strong;lack of effective questions to guide students to use geographic images;teachers emphasis on imparting knowledge but despise methods;students' consciousness of geography image is not strong;the geographic image skills about students is poor;the regional difference comparative thinking of students is weak;students are not good at summarizing the research methods in the region.The fifth part is the strategy.On the one hand,this paper puts forward the teaching strategies of the teachers' use of geographical images to cultivate regional cognitive ability,including the following five points:follow the principles to choose appropriate geographic images;guide students according to the image when asking;use a variety of methods to interpret images and dig deep for hidden information;combine all kinds of images;strengthen thought summary when drawing charts;Onthe other hand,the paper puts forward the learning strategies for students to use geographic images to form regional cognitive abilities,including the following three points:enhance the consciousness of geographic images and to improve the geographic image skills;integrate the knowledge system and train different regional difference thinking;strengthen the the summary about regional research methods and expand the application.The sixth part is the conclusion and prospect.This paper summarizes the basic conclusions,analyzes the shortcomings,and makes a prospect for the further study of the research.
