In recent years,among students taking the College Entrance Examination of Guangdong province,art students have always maintained a high percentage,ranking the first place in China.Xinhui Experimental High School,boasting the most art students admitted by colleges in Xinhui District,Jiangmen,is entitled as the first schools with artistic education characteristics in Xinhui District.However,the college entrance examination results show that most art students only pass the exams of their professional courses while achieving poor results in their general knowledge courses.The main reason is that art students have to spend most of their time and energy on professional courses.As a result,they don't have enough time to learn general knowledge courses.Besides,there are still some problems in actual teaching practices of different courses for high school students,such as low efficiency or ineffective teaching.In such case,this paper focuses on geography course,profoundly analyzes the problems and causes of teaching practices,so as to explore suitable and effective geography classes for art students and provide useful reference for geography teachers.The paper includes six parts.The first part is the introduction that explains the research background,research significance,domestic and overseas research status,research methodology,and research paths.The second part is important concepts and theoretical basis that explains relevant concepts and theoretical basis,including Meaningful Reception Learning Theory,Multiple Intelligence Theory,optimization theory of teaching process,and theory of teaching students in accordance with their aptitude.The third part is an analysis on the geography learning and teaching status of art students of Xinhui Experimental High School.The paper collects information about the status of geography learning status of art students through questionnaire and interviews on students and teachers respectively.The paper also analyzes the geography class status from the perspective of class schedule,course content,and class arrangement.The fourth part is the optimization of effective geography course objectives and contents.The paper introduces the principles of objectives and contents optimization,adjusts the teaching actions and objectives,and integrates the teaching contents to establish content framework.The fifth part is teaching cases study and implementation effects research.Through case study,the paper focuses on the teaching of atmosphere,resets the teaching objective,organizes teaching content,designs teaching process,and compares the test results before and after the optimization of objectives and contents to verify the implementation effectiveness.The six part is conclusion and prospect.This paper is innovative in that it studies the art students in high school,clarifies the reference for effective geography teaching for art students in high school,and explains how to establish effective geography class knowledge system.It can help establish effective geography class knowledge system,enhance professional development of geography teachers,improve teachers' teaching skills,optimizes teaching strategies,and provide reference for geography teachers in teaching art students.Yet due to limited research time,the paper fails to conduct a long-term teaching practice of the rebuilt geography knowledge system.So the teaching effects are still to be further verified.
