Effective teaching is the new curriculum reform of basic education in China,which is a starting point of implementing quality education, cultivating students’innovative spirit and practical ability. Effective teaching means in the teachingactivities, teachers and students follow teaching rules, in order to promote the studentsto complete the objectives of the three-dimensional requirements in the best way. In2001, China promulgated the "Outline" of curriculum reform of basic education, andbegan a new round of it. The new curriculum reform in the teaching method and modeattempt to change the examination oriented education quality education which doesnot adapt to the development of the times to the emphasis on capacity and actualoperation. It needs to train the students’ subject status in geography classroom, andchanges from passive learning status as the dominant position with an interest inlearning. As a high school geography teacher, we should follow the pace of the times,constantly update concept, to explore cooperation, cultivate innovative thinking,which is the basis guarantee for the implementation of effective teaching ofGeography in senior high school. Therefore, the realization of the effective teachingof high school geography class has a very important significance for improving theteaching efficiency.Because of influence of scientific ideological trend since twentieth Century,especially the behavior and psychology development of science, people realize,teaching is also scientific. The teaching is not only has the scientific basis, but alsocan use the scientific method to study. So, people began to pay attention to theteaching of philosophy, psychology, and sociology theory, how to use observation,experimental and other scientific research on teaching problem. Effective teaching isfrom it.The research on effective teaching of geography class in Chinese is also anincomplete theoretical system.A variety of research methods including literature method, comparativemethod,the empirical method, and case study method are used in this essay, putforward my own point of view in the teaching process of teaching methods, teachingmethods, and teaching evaluation and other aspects of the effectiveness of teaching. Based on the results of previous studies, linked with the experience and high schoolteaching experience, combined with the characteristics of students’ characteristics andgeography in senior high school, combining with the cognitive characteristics ofstudents, according to the different teaching contents and aims, methods to reasonablychoose the way of teaching and adopt correct evaluation for students, finally reachedeffective development of the teaching content and the ability. In this paper, based onthe understanding in theoretical and experimental significance of the effectiveteaching, make a preliminary inquiry on the effective teaching of high schoolgeography class.
