At present,China is facing challenges of severe aging which will be a more serious problem in the future.At the end of 2017,the population at the age of 60 and above is 17% of overall Chinese population.The aged population will be reaching the highest peak of 400 million during the mid of twenty first century,holding about 37% of Chinese population.And it will remain a status of severe aging society afterwards.The way to solve this problem and to promote their self-acceptance,self-improvement and spending their remaining years happily is to practise old-age education,which is very important to both senior citizens and the society.Now the education for the old in China is booming,but it is still far beyond satisfaction.The old-age education should be based on the life of the old individually so that it can promote their living quality.The application of modern information technology into the third age education is not only the essential technological means to realize this goal,but also important measures for the old to adapt modern life.The integration of the third age education and the modern information technology is an inevitable trend to develop this kind of education.As main carrier of the third age education,the Third Age Universities can provide personalized education for every old person equally by using modern information technology.The core is the integration of curricula with modern information technology.The fusion of modern information technology and the Third Age University should be the integration of five aspects: education ideology(Scientific,rational and open-minded),the senior citizens' physical and mental characteristics of learning,modern information technology,the social life of the old and modern curricula of the Third Age Universities.With the social progress and improvement of old people's economic and educational level,modernized education for the seniors is not only the modernization of teaching facilities and mode,but also the educational philosophy based on science,rationality and open mindness and the modernization of curricula.This five-aspects-into-one-integration model can relieve severe insufficiency of educational resources,thus old people can be able to receive education conveniently.This model can also improve qualities of the Third Age education and help the elderly acquiring social support.I believe that the future Third Age education can benefit the elderly in both cities and countryside and play a more important role in their lifes.
