A Study On The Relationship Between Family Functioning,Personality Traits And Self-efficacy Of Middle School Students

Self-efficacy refers to the degree of self-confidence in accomplishing some work.The level of self-efficacy affects one person's mental health to a large extent.A good sense of self-efficacy can promote the coordinated development and overall construction of self-consciousness.People with a high sense of self-efficacy believe in themselves and stick to hard work,when they are in trouble.The article explores the effect and mechanism of family function on self-efficacy from the family perspective.It enriches the research content of self-efficacy and provides basis to improving middle school students' self-efficacy.The instruments for this study are Family Adaptability and Cohesion Scale,Second Edition(FACES II),Chinese Big Five Personality and General Self-Efficacy Scale(GSES).This research investigates about 507 students of three middle schools in Tianjin city and Henan Province,and 3 grades.The results which are repeated by correlation analysis,multiple variance analysis,and multiple regression analysis are as follows:(1)The middle school students' family functioning is favorable,and there are significant differences on gender,the only child,the origin of students,and parents' education level.(2)Middle school students' personality traits are on and above the medium level,there are significant differences on gender,the only child,the origin of students,and parents' education level.(3)The Self-efficacy of middle school students is on the medium level,and the overall level of Self-efficacy is higher.(4)There are pairwise correlations between family functioning,personality traits,Self-efficacy.Adaptability in family function can positively predict self-efficacy,agreeableness and extroversion in personality traits,adaptability and cohesion can positively predict conscientiousness and openness.Openness,conscientiousness and extraversion in personality traits can positively predict self-efficacy,and neuroticism can negatively predict self-efficacy.(5)The personality traits effect of resilience on the relation between family functioning and self-efficacy.
