Research On Utilizing "Movie And Television Resources" In Teaching The 8th Grade History Class

In China,the curriculum for the 8th grade history is the Chinese modern history.This was a period of history that the Chinese people were suffered from aggression,oppression and lagged behind many countries in the world economically and technically.Teaching the 8th grade History encounter so many difficulties from keeping student interested as in contrast with the 7th and the 9th grade which covered the Ancient Chinese history and World History respectively.In teaching the 8th grade History,use of movie and television resources is one of the practical teaching methods.Movie and television resources present the effect of their intuitive and vivid display of historical plots,enhance classroom activities,classroom efficiency,and improve the effectiveness of teaching.This article will discuss the application of movie and television resources in teaching the 8th grade history,coupling with the theories of pedagogy,psychology,historiography of television and movie,teaching of History and my personal practice in teaching of History which associates with the use of movie and television resources.The article is divided into the following section.The first section mainly expounds the present situation of teaching the 8th grade history and analyzes the reasons why some students are not interested in it.The second section describes the role of introducing movie and television resources in teaching the 8th grade history.It can reproduce the history and make historical scenes alive.It can resolve some of the obscure knowledge points and supplement to the textbook knowledge and touched people with historical details.It uplifts the values of Emotional Quotient Education and stimulates students' patriotic feelings.The third section expounds the selection and handling of movie and television resources,and issues for choosing and editing of various types of film and television resources.Facing all available types of movie and television resources,such as movies,TV plays,cartoons,news,documentaries etc.,we should select the appropriate contents then edit it into a suitable fragment for use in the classroom.The fourth section expounds the application of specific examples of movie and television resources in teaching the 8th grade history.The fifth section addresses the issue of video resources being used in the 8th grade classroom,such as the difference between historical figures and image from the movie and television;historical and drama reality from movie and television.Watching movie and television cannot replace reading historical materials and other teaching methods.The last part lists the movie and television resources that can be used in teaching.In conclusion,utilizing the movie and television resources in the 8th grade history class can effectively improve the students' interest in learning and the teaching effect.
