In the process of carrying out the task of cultivating virtues and cultivating people,key abilities,values and essential qualities are the signs of the formation of core qualities.As an important part of it,the ability to acquire and interpret information is the foundation for the formation of key abilities,correct values and necessary character.The reform of the college entrance examination policy has changed the situation of the traditional liberal arts and science.Geography,as a natural and social subject,has the characteristics of life and science.The increasing number of people who choose geography as the college entrance examination will usher in new challenges and opportunities for the geography teaching.Therefore,it is of great significance and importance to study students’ ability to acquire and interpret geographical information under the background of the new college entrance examination reform.This study takes "the cultivation of the ability to acquire and interpret geographic information" as the core content,and clarifies the definition of several core concepts of geographic information,acquire and interpret geographic information,acquire and interpret geographic information ability.This paper analyzes the significance of information processing theory,cognitive structure theory and multiple intelligences theory for cultivating the ability to acquire and interpret geographic information,demonstrates the necessity of this study,and provides new ideas and directions for analyzing the current situation.Firstly,it analyzes the information presentation forms and investigation ability of geography questions in the college entrance examination in Zhejiang and Shanghai from2018 to 2022,and finds out the requirements on students’ ability to acquire and interpret geographic information under the background of reform: geography presents in various forms in the exam questions,and the forms of combination of text and text and table appear frequently;The ability to access and interpret geographic information was examined in the first half of multiple choice and non-multiple choice questions.From the examination requirements,it can be found that more and more students need to select,grasp and organize information from the material.Secondly,the problems of geographic information acquisition and interpretation ability of current high school students are investigated: students’ basic knowledge is weak,they have not mastered the methods of reading questions and reviewing maps,and they have insufficient awareness of actively acquiring geographic information.Explore the causes of these phenomena: weak awareness of independent exercise;Focus too much on accuracy;The ability to examine and read questions is not strong;Lack of targeted training,extracurricular practice activities,students psychological quality is not high.Thirdly,starting from two different types of courses,namely new teaching and examination paper teaching and evaluation,the following cultivation strategies are proposed: In the new teaching,we should actively look for the current teaching materials,not limited to the content of the textbook;Give play to students’ initiative,enlighten and guide by points and types;Use concrete mind map to show the correct knowledge structure system.In the class,pay attention to the guidance of learning methods,do not pay too much attention to the answer itself;Change the original concept,encourage students to share reports;Variation training to help students grasp the main points.Design teaching cases of acquiring and interpreting geographic information ability,including the new teaching of Main Vegetation and Natural Environment and the lecture and evaluation of the earth’s cosmic environment and related training of wind-sand landform,so as to achieve the requirements of cultivating students’ geographic information acquiring and interpreting ability.This study analyzes the cultivation of students’ ability to acquire and interpret geographic information from the order of examination questions investigation and analysis,application status,cultivation strategy formulation and teaching case design,and provides reference for the cultivation of geography teaching ability to acquire and interpret geographic information in high school.
