STEM Education in American senior high schools is an inevitable choice for the rapid development of the global economy and science in the 21 st century.After a long period of exploration and prosperity,STEM education in America has accumulated a lot of useful experience for the reference of all countries.The goal of STEM education in American senior high schools is to cultivate complex innovative talents in the fields of science,technology,engineering,and mathematics in order to increase national competitiveness and maintain its status as a leader.Under the background and development process of STEM education in American senior high school,this paper analyzes the specific implementation and summarizes its characteristics and difficulties.This paper uses the literature research method and the case analysis method,and takes Taylor's curriculum theory as the theoretical analysis framework.It comprehensively explores the implementation of STEM education in American senior high schools in the United States from aspects of production,implementation,guarantee,and characteristics.The first chapter introduces the background and development course of STEM education in America.STEM talent reserve is urgently needed in economy and society in America.The current situation of STEM in American High School is not optimistic.The education concept is changed from STS to STEM.All these provids soil for high school STEM education.The second chapter is an in-depth analysis of the implementation of STEM education in American senior high school,which is a key part of this study.This paper studies the specific implementation of STEM education in American senior high school from the aspects of implementation goal,implementation approach,implementation evaluation and implementation effect.American high schools mainly use STEM correlated curriculum and STEM broad fields curriculum to carry on classroom teaching,also have abundant extracurricular activities.The STEM broad curriculum model promotes STEM teaching practices based on activities,problems,and projects.In addition,taking Liberal Arts and Science Academy and Manor New Technology High school as an example,this paper analyzes and expounds concretely.The third chapter discusses the implementation guarantee of STEM education in America.The federal government,state government and local government provide policy insurance,financial support and emphasis on teacher training.What's more,social organizations are actively involved.The fourth chapter summarizes the implementation characteristics of STEM education in America senior high school and reflects on STEM education.Through studying STEM education,it is not only the problem of implementation,but also the policy itself.
