Recently, the society has paid more and more concern to art education at school. From “The Compulsory Education Music Curriculum Standards”(2011Edition)to the four consecutive art education documents issued in 2015,Chinese government has issued a series of documents which put forward requirements for students' musical accomplishment. The cultivation of musical accomplishment is inseparable from the basic skills of music.Singing is the uppermost musical skill.Intonation is an important indicator in singing evaluation. In contrast,in the classroom, teachers are less concerned about singing skills and do not pay enough attention to it.The neglect of skills training for the long run will inevitably affect the development of students' musical accomplishment.Based on the above background, this thesis focuses on the singing intonation teaching for primary school students.what are the aspects of teaching that affect primary school student's singing intonation? How to improve pupil's singing intonation through teaching? The first chapter defines the concept of intonation and pupil' singing intonation which helps to lay a foundation for the following research. The second chapter is classroom observation. The object of observation is the teaching and research team leader of the music school in Y Primary School.By analyzing the classroom observation scale, this teacher's teaching method, teaching form, teaching content, and teaching evaluation are summarized. The third chapter records the testing process in detail.Ten boys and ten girls from the observed class were chosen randomly to be surveyed. The form of the test is a separate test. The content of the test consists of two parts: the test of the vocal range and the test of the three songs. The test evaluation criteria is based on a five-point evaluation by Junda & Young(1997).Based on this criteria, the individual hierarchy evaluation description is modified. The fourth chapter uses the interview method, and the content of the interview including five dimensions: teaching form, teaching goal, teaching method, teaching content, and teaching evaluation. The last chapter is the discussion and suggestion based on the results of references, interviews, classroom observations, and tests. This study finds out that choosing appropriate teaching methods can do more to cope with different intonation difficulties. In addition to the teaching method recommendations, teachers should also stress the importance of intonation in teaching objectives,long-term gradual teaching,so as to develop students' sense of intonation. Moreover, the evaluation of intonation teaching should emphasize on science, effectiveness, and positiveness. The choice of teaching content is supposed to be based on the analysis of the academic situation and the music ontology, which means selecting the songs suitable for the students to sing,or adapting the songs according to the principle of suitability. In the form of teaching, there should be more individual guidance,or group guidance. In short, teachers need to continuously improve their teaching ability to lay a foundation for the development of students.
