Research On The Role Dilemma Of Social Workers

It is a new situation that the grass-roots party construction lead the innovation of social governance in our country.Whether the social work can adapt to the new situation depends on the social worker's understanding and practice of the roles and functions under the new situation.Professional social work is imported,our social workers have been puzzled by ‘who am I',‘what should I do'? Under the new situation,the role of professional social workers posed a new challenge,social workers cogitate the quentions‘who am I',‘What should I do' requires new mentality.In this study,a case study of the H community Service Center in Shenzhen.This paper analyzes the daily role behaviors,roles and expectations of social workers in the H community service center and draws the following conclusions: 1.Social workers play multiple roles and face diverse roles.2.Social workers face role dilemma: role conflict,role ambiguity and role distance.3.There are many reasons for the dilemma of the role of social worker.4.The impact of social worker's role dilemma can not be ignored.5.The answer of ‘who am I' ‘what should I do'.In view of the causes and effects of the role dilemma,this paper puts forward the need for rational understanding of China's professional social work and active promotion of individual abilities.At the institutional level,there is a need to establish a sound supervisory training mechanism to help social workers improve their capacities;At the policy level,it is proposed to establish an equal communication mechanism among the various parties and to allow the government to appropriate the transfer of professional and autonomous space.It is expected that these suggestions will help social workers to think effectively about their roles and functions under the new situation,to deal effectively with the problem of role dilemma,to orientate their roles and to reduce the negative impact of role dilemma.
