Research On Psychological Relief Of Long-term Caregivers Of Disabled Elderly

As a nation with large population,China's aged supporting has become one of the most important and urgent problem.Because of age or disease,aged people's physical function decreases sharply and is not capable of taking care of themselves,which has caused aged caring problem.As of 2016,there are more than 40 million disabled elders in our country.Behind them,there are a lot of caregivers taking care of their lives.It's not easy.It requests not only selfless dedication as well as strong will,determination and patience.“Xiao”(being filial piety with one's parents)consists of our culture largely.We believe that to raise a kid is a precaution for aging.Currently family caring is still the mainstream way of elders caring,which most caregivers are in mid-age.During the process of taking care of disabled elders,they have to give up almost all their availability and social lives,along with conflicts with family members and lack of support and understanding.Gradually their physical problems occur,together with unhealthy emotions such as depression,anxiousness and dysphoria.If these emotions can't be dealt with properly in time,it will lead to mental diseases.So it's necessary for social work to intervene the long-term caregivers' mental health.By using case work,based on theory as narrative therapy,theory of family therapy and social support theory,professional guidance has been conducted on Mrs.J who is a caregiver of a disabled elder.During the process,the researcher has built up a professional relationship with the client,intervention from the psychological and social aspects of the client,helping her recognize her metal problem step by step,get it solved at last and release her mental pressure,improved the self-identity of the client.Besides client has learned professional nursing knowledge with researcher's help and resume normal social activities.Excellent outcome has been achieved by this case work shown by final evaluation which proves that case work could help to sooth the mental pressure of long-term caregivers of disabled elders.
