The small group teaching model is based on the theory of system science and the specific teaching mode.It is to divide the average number of people in the entire class by heterogeneous grouping,selected team leader,under the guidance of teachers,the teaching model that each group will learn from each other and evaluate each other to improve their learning efficiency,improve the students' cohesiveness,social adaptability,cooperative ability,and improve the teaching skills of students.This article mainly uses the literature data method,expert interview method,questionnaire survey method,teaching experiment method,mathematical statistics method and logic analysis method.First of all,theoretically discuss the evolution of the origin of the small group teaching model,related models,etc.Combined with the combination of the teaching mode of the martial arts class and the the small group teaching model.Afterwards,an experiment was conducted in martial arts special selection course in higher normal physical education institutes,formulate teaching goals,Apply a small group teaching model to teaching,after 16 weeks of experimental factors applied,combined with surveys,compare the experimental class with the control class,get the following conclusion:1.The small group teaching mode can not only improve the students' interest in learning martial arts,their initiative and enthusiasm for learning,but also improve their martial arts skills,but the theoretical results do not change significantly.2.The Application of Small group teaching mode in higher normal physical education Institute,make students' social adaptability and group cohesiveness improve their effectiveness.3.The Application of Small group teaching mode in higher normal physical education Institute,students in the physical quality test results,there is no obvious improvement.4.The small group teaching mode is applied to the martial arts special course teaching,which can improve students' teaching skills.5.The Application of Small group teaching mode in higher normal physical education Institute,through the teaching and testing of the whole experiment process and the analysisand comparison of the experimental results,the teaching effect is improved.And in the process of imparting knowledge,we pay attention to the cultivation of students' comprehensive abilities,which is also in line with the development trend and requirements of modern quality education.6.The Application of Small group teaching mode in higher normal physical education Institute,the advantage of this teaching model is that it can effectively mobilize students' learning enthusiasm,participation,and discussion in the classroom.The disadvantage is that it does not apply to teaching methods that are technically difficult,It only applies to martial arts routines with relatively simple technical difficulty.
