With the deepening of higher education reform and the development of curriculum system,public elective courses have become an important part of the curriculum system in colleges.It aims at enriching and consolidating students' knowledge base,developing their basic abilities and improving their basic qualities.Public elective courses are playing an increasingly non-substitutable role in talents cultivation.Nowadays,with the rapid development of economy and the progressive progress of society,the requirement for teachers' quality is constantly improving,and higher requirements of cultivation quality of normal students are put forward to normal colleges.The basic quality of normal school students is the basic condition for them to become excellent teachers in the future.Therefore,the cultivation of the basic quality of normal students by public elective courses has become a problem that normal colleges must pay attention to.The study uses a combination method of literature,questionnaires,interviews.From the perspective of setting and implementing of public elective courses,based on the analysis of the current situation of the research at home and abroad,the research uses the self-developed questionnaire on the current situation of the setting and implementation of public elective courses for normal students and conducted a questionnaire survey to the normal students in three normal colleges.Interviewing with teachers and students,studying the undergraduate cultivation plans of three normal colleges,the problems in the setting and implementation of public elective course are fully and carefully understood,and the research analyses the relationship between public elective courses and the cultivation of the basic quality of normal students,analyze the causes of the problems,then put forward operational suggestions.The study includes five parts.The first part is an introduction part,elaborating the background and origin,the significance of research,research status,defining the core concepts,clarifying the framework and methods.The second part is a detailed analysis of the survey results of the current situation of the setting and implementation of public elective courses for normal students from four dimensions: curriculum setting,curriculum implementation,curriculum resources and curriculum evaluation and supervision.The third part is about the problems existing in the setting and implementation of elective courses.The fourth part explores the reasons behind the problems in the setting and implementation of public elective courses from three aspect of schools,teachers and students.The fifth part bases on the problems in the process of setting and implementing public elective courses and puts forward effective strategies to optimize the setting and implementation of public elective courses.
