With the development of society,our country's education develops steadily.Higher Vocational College has become an important component of China's higher education,and public elective courses have been an important component of the Curriculum System of Higher Vocational Colleges.Public elective courses have positive effect on the following aspects: meeting the requirements and the interests of the students,promoting the development of students' character,broadening their knowledge,cultivating their innovative spirit etc.It can help students foster correct overlooks on the world,life and values.Public elective courses are good for the students to enrich their knowledge,broaden their horizons,enhance cultural and artistic qualities,and improve the comprehensive quality of themselves.The opening of public elective courses can cultivate talent with all-round development who keep pace with the times.However,during the process of carrying out public elective courses in Higher Vocational Colleges,there are still some problems,such as the lack of understanding of public elective courses of the students,unreasonable course structure,unscientific course content,backward course management measures and so on.It will lead to some issues,for instance,the public elective courses are unable to play its role and advantages to the greatest extent,which can not only have serious effect on the improvement of education quality in Higher Vocational Colleges,but also be against the overall and long-term development of the students.To change this situation,the related reform should be taken.Managers of higher vocational college should start from curriculum,course content and curriculum evaluation of the public elective courses,constantly improve the system of public elective courses,reasonably arrange courses,enrich curriculum,improve teaching methods,increase the students' interest,and optimize curriculum evaluation.Therefore,public elective courses can play the teaching role so as to further help the students improve themselves.Through the research of this paper,the author further discusses some problems that appeared during the process of carrying out public elective courses in Higher Vocational Colleges,exacts role of the teachers and students when carrying out public elective courses,as well as puts forwards strategies and methods,which will provide some useful information for the development of public elective course in Higher Vocational Colleges.The research objective of this paper is public elective courses in Higher Vocational Colleges.Through the research of current situation of public elective courses in Xuanhua Vocational College of Science & Technology,The author hopes to guide the teachers to reasonably arrange teaching content according to the students' requirements,improve teaching methods and fundamentally improve the quality of public elective courses after making analysis of settings,content,management and other aspects of public elective courses.This paper is divided into five parts,which studies the present situation and countermeasures of public elective courses in Higher Vocational Colleges.Part One: introduction.The author focuses on the background,purpose and meaning of the research,concept definition,research summary at home and abroad,research content,research thought,and research methods.Part Two: the author studies and discusses from the following four aspects,curriculum,course content,course assessment and course evaluation,through the research of current situation of public elective courses in Xuanhua Vocational College of Science & Technology.The author understands the current situation of carrying out public elective courses in Xuanhua Vocational College of Science & Technology after questionnaire.Part Three: the author discusses the corresponding problems and shortage during the process of carrying out public elective courses in Xuanhua Vocational College of Science & Technology,summarizes the specific problems from the following four aspects,curriculum,course content,course assessment and course evaluation that exist in carrying out public elective courses in Xuanhua Vocational College of Science & Technology.Part Four: the author discusses the problems in the process of carrying out public elective courses in Xuanhua Vocational College of Science & Technology,analyzes the situation and puts forward appropriate questions on the basis of theory,the present situation and research data.Part Five: the author puts forward appropriate countermeasures and suggestions to optimize the development of public elective courses in Higher Vocational Colleges.
