Compared with general education,tertiary vocational education is more professional and practical oriented due to the fact that the goal of tertiary vocational education in China is “to cultivate hundreds of millions high-quality labors and talents with the purpose of serving society development and with the guidance of promoting employment.” This characteristic determines that all the efforts in these colleges must be put in the employment of vocational students.The management of students in these colleges should be facilitated to improve the employability of students.With the development of Chinese economy,society and culture,students in tertiary vocational colleges are characterized by more complex and diverse.The management of higher vocational college students faces new opportunities and challenges.At the same time,in the context of the popularization of higher education,the increasing number of college graduates,and the increasing employment pressure of college students,the student management workers in tertiary vocational colleges need to constantly update their management concepts and explore new management approaches to improve student’s learning ability,psychological quality,employability,job adaptability and creativity to meet the new challenges effectively,thus upgrading their competitiveness to a higher level.In recent years,theoretical research and practice have shown that a good career planning can improve student and help them to grow during college.Student managers can also provide more humanized and personalized management and services by using career planning theory.Student managers can also apply career planning theory to provide students more humanized and personalized management and services.Therefore,this paper conducts research on student management in tertiary vocational colleges from the perspective of career planning.Starting from the concept of service,cultivation and management,this paper combines career planning theory with tertiary vocational college student management to explore a novel method for student management.The innovation of this research is the combination of career planning and the management of tertiary vocational students,and tries to correct the current deficiencies of student management in higher vocational colleges with providing valuable theories and operational strategies for this novel method.This paper will expound the theoretical basis and connotation of student management in tertiary vocational colleges from the perspective of career planning,and introduce the related concepts of major career planning theory and the idea and principles of student management in tertiary vocational colleges in the context of career planning.It is expected to find existing problems in the current management of students in tertiary vocational colleges from the questionnaire survey.Meanwhile,the reasons of the existence of these problems are to be explored through the four main theories of career planning and corresponding solutions are to be provided.Combining with the theory of career planning,the management level of students in tertiary vocational colleges could be improved.This improvement facilitates the completeness of career education and education system in tertiary vocational colleges,and further improves the employability and professional quality of students,so as to achieve better career development and growth of students in tertiary vocational colleges.This paper supports the conclusion that with the adoption of career planning concepts,student managers in tertiary vocational colleges could provide students more humanization and personalized management and service in many areas,such as daily management,ideological and political education,mental health,practical activities,academic counseling,and employment guidance.
