In 2017,the new curriculum standard of Chinese subject took the core competencies in Chinese as the training objective of promoting the students' integrated development.Core competencies in a subject are the intensive embodiment of the educational value in this subject,and they are the students' correct view of value,the necessary character and morals and the key abilities that are formed gradually through the study of this subject.The core competencies in Chinese mainly include four aspects of abilities,they are ”the the ability of construction and application of language”,“the development and improvement of the thinking ability”,“the abilities of aesthetic appreciation and creativity” and “the cultural inheritance and understanding ability”.How to carry out core competencies education in Chinese teaching is a problem that should be solved by the front-line teachers of Chinese subject in senior high school.Novel reading teaching is an effective way of training the students' abilities in language knowledge application,aesthetic appreciation,language expression,observation,thinking and imagination,creation and the cultural understanding and inheritance,etc.The formation and improvement of these abilities are just in accordance with the requirement of training students' core competencies in Chinese that is put forward by the new curriculum standard.In the horizon of core competencies,to construct the strategy pattern of novel reading teaching in senior high school,the teacher must take the students as the dominant role and the teacher himself or herself as the guider,strengthen the accumulation of language application and pay more attention to the individualized development of the thinking.In the teaching practice,the teacher should try to train the students' ability of independent inquiry and comprehensively improve the students' core competencies.This paper takes “the teaching strategy of novel reading in senior high school in the horizon of core competencies” as its object of study.The study is mainly conducted from the following aspects:Introduction: In this part,the problem that is to be studied,the significance of this study,the review of the research literature and the method of this study are introduced.Chapter 1: This chapter involves a brief introduction core competencies in Chinese and novel reading teaching in senior high school.In this chapter,the connotation of core competencies in Chinese and the contents of novel reading teaching in senior high school are introduced,and the significance of the novel reading teaching in senior high school in the horizon of core competencies is analyzed.Chapter 2: In this chapter,the current situation of the novel reading teaching in senior high school,the problem that exists in it and the reasons for the problem are analyzed.This part introduces the investigation of the current situation of novel reading teaching in senior high school,discusses the problem and analyzes the reasons.Chapter 3: In this chapter,the implementation strategies of cultivating students' core competencies by using novel reading teaching in senior high school are introduced.The paper will discuss the dominant role of the students in the novel reading teaching in senior high school.In the teaching process,interactive mode shall be started,and a platform for equal dialogue shall be set up for the novel reading teaching to be conducted in an equal and relaxed atmosphere.In this process,the open text and relaxed thinking space can motivate the students' active thinking and help the spark of innovative thinking to be produced,thus the students' core competencies in Chinese can be thoroughly trained.The detailed strategies are the application of the project-based guiding strategy before class,the application of the open-type teaching strategy in class and the application of the extension reading strategy after class.
