With the development of mathematics education in our country,the focus on students' mathematics reading ability has gradually become a hot topic in academic fields,especially the advance from examination-oriented education to quality-oriented education.It has important reference value to the topic in cultivating mathematics reading ability,the new curriculum reform of mathematics subject and the construction of subject accomplishment.In recent years,reading ability has become more and more important in junior middle school mathematics examination.The students in junior middle school are in a critical period of developing their reading abilities.The investigation and research on the present situation is of great help to the discussion of mathematics reading abilities.Through the methods of literature,questionnaire,mathematical statistics and so on,this paper summarizes the connotation and external forms of mathematics reading teaching,the current research situation and so on.At the same time,the paper makes an investigation and analysis on the present situation of mathematics reading of the students to expound the typical problems and feasible strategies in RQ Middle School in Wuhan by using questionnaires.Through the research of this paper,the author draws the following conclusions:First,the present situation of junior high school students' mathematics reading is worrisome.Many students have poor or even have no mathematical reading habits.Their reading quantity is insufficient in and out of class,and also they are lack of effective supervision and guidance.Second,some obvious deficiencies exist in junior high school students.For example,they are weak in the abilities of reading,understanding,and expressing mathematical reading materials,grasping and capturing key information in reading materials,comprehending and discovering some implicit information.Meanwhile,on the basis of this,the author puts forward some useful strategies and methods:First,to improve the students' attention in mathematics reading and the forms of mathematics reading.Second,make good preparation for reading plans and tasks.Third,enhance the supervision and guidance on students to promote their reading abilities.
