Nowadays,people have higher demands for education so that talent cultivation has been a wildly concerned educating topic across the world.Education has become a main driving force for maintaining competitive edge of a country.However,the inherent value of high school education is actually lost in real life.The whole stage of high school education is inundated with some phenomenon,such as thousand school side,homogeneity,only score theory and so on,which go against the values of humanism and the development of students' individuality.It is pointed out in The Outline of the National Medium-and Long-Term Education Reform and Development Plan(2010-2020)that the diversified development and characteristics of senior high schools should be encouraged.All of these show that the government pay more attention to the construction of characteristic school.However,similarities and generalizations still exist in the process of the development of characteristic schools,which have become urgent problems to be solved.This study uses questionnaires,interviews,comparisons and other research methods to analyze and summarize the experience and shortcomings of the construction of four characteristic high schools in the central urban area of Tianjin,intended to provide reference for other high schools.The results of the study show that the characteristic construction of the four high schools in the central urban area of Tianjin has obtained the following experience from six aspects.Firstly,the characteristic concept has a strong orientation.Secondly,the characteristic projects take roots in the tradition.Thirdly,the characteristic courses emphasize the cultivation of core literacy.Fourthly,the characteristic activities are rich and colorful;Fifthly,the characteristic management has a system to do the safeguard.Finally,characteristic environment makes full use of everything in the campus during the construction.At the same time,by sorting out literature and visiting experts,the construction paths of these characteristic schools are extracted,such as the naturally-generated path,the self-designed path and the mixed path and so on.However,since all the characteristic schools are still under construction and schools with very distinctive characteristics have not come into being by now,some problems are invisible.The research results show that there are three main deficiencies.First,the inadequate interpretation of the concept leads to the implementation of the concept of characteristics.Second,the improvement of featured management is limited,which is manifested as the lack of individuality.Finally,due to the implementation of the utilitarianism trend,the effect of characteristic courses is not as good as expected.After the in-depth analysis of the problems and causes,some suggestions for improvement are proposed to solve the problems existing in the characteristic construction.First of all,the concept of characteristic management should be deeply interpreted.Not only should the system of characteristic concept be built,but also its connotation should be interpreted.Secondly,the characteristic management should be reformed and innovated from four aspects,including people-oriented management,the principal's management innovation,the school management system innovation and the proper management of teachers.Finally,characteristic courses are to exploit potentialities in four aspects by the construction of a complete curriculum system,the establishment of a study-oriented team of teachers,an upgrade to the training of teachers,and tolerance of innovative teachers.
