Appreciation of ancient poetry is vital component of Chinese teaching in senior high schools,and it is also one of the compulsory contents of National College Entrance Examination.Therefore,learning how to appreciate poetry is the key and difficult point in both teaching and examination.For high school students,learning ancient poetry well and recognizing the beauty of ancient poetry in form and content can improve their appreciation level as well as aesthetic ability.Based on the accurate definition of basic concepts,this paper distinguishes the connotations of poetry and poetry appreciation,and especially sheds light on the value and significance of appreciation in ancient poetry teaching from two aspects:phonological form and ideological and emotional dimensions.Then,starting from the requirements of teaching and learning,the author carefully interprets and analyses the new curriculum standards and the compulsory and optional textbooks of senior high school Chinese in PEP.Combining with the long-term teaching practice,the author finds out many problems about form and content appreciation existing in the current teaching practice:the eagerness for quick success and instant benefit in the classroom teaching of ancient poetry,the neglect of students' experience,the students not grasping the stylistic features and tricks of ancient poetry,and teachers' lack of knowledge of ancient poetry phonology and form aesthetics and so on.Finally,according to the problems found in the second section of the first chapter,the author explores the specific and effective teaching strategies.The purpose of this study is to enable teachers to promote teaching efficiency,enrich teaching strategies,and make students more interested in ancient poetry,so as to enhance students'ability to learn and appreciate ancient poetry to a certain extent.
