The teaching materials are produced based on the subject modules,hence teaching materials could be called the "ambassador" of the subject modules as it reflects everything that is required in the subject modules.Teaching materials are compilation of works produced by numerous education experts after taking into consideration the educational standards required.Hence,teaching materials are the guidance to classroom activities.The Ministry of Education of Malaysia created teaching modules with reference to the<National Principles of Malaysia>,<National Education Policy of Malaysia>and<National Philosophy of Education>,with the aim to build people who is mentally,physically and emotionally healthy as well as to promote patriotism which will lead Malaysia to a well developed and cultured country.In order to get in line with the development of education in the 21st century,The Ministry of Education has introduced<Education blueprints of Malaysia,2013-2025>.One of the purposes for this introduction is to create a stable and efficient teaching modules.Subject modules of all subjects are subject to revision and amendment to meet the latest educational standard under this blueprints.As a results,a new "Curriculum for Secondary School,was implemented in 2017,under which there is a significant difference between the new and old teaching materials.The new teaching materials were introduced and implemented in 2017 and they are significantly different compared to the old teaching materials.However,the author is of the opinion that the old teaching materials are not rendered useless and that the new teaching materials have room for improvement too.Therefore,the author studies the two teaching materials,looks and collects relevant information in order to get a complete understanding of the two teaching materials,and move on to compare and contrast the two teaching materials.To avoid biasness in the opinion,the author has also asked for opinions and suggestions of the teachers through questionnaires before providing constructive opinions and conclusion on the new teaching materials.This study is divided into 6 chapters.The first chapter focuses on the background of the Malaysian Education System,China and other foreign countries9 studies on the teaching materials in Malaysia,the purpose and significance of this study.The second chapter emphasizes on the comparing the aims and purposes,compiling principle and structure of the two teaching materials.Although author has realized that the two teaching materials are different in terms of compiling principle,the ultimate aim of the teaching materials are founded on building the listening,speaking,writing,and reading ability of students.The third chapter is a thorough,comprehensive discussion of the contents and syllabus of both teaching materials.In the fourth chapter,the teachers,feedbacks regarding the current and previous teaching materials which were obtained through questionnaires will be analyzed.The fifth chapter aims to provide constructive opinions and suggestions to the users of the teaching materials after taking into consideration the results of the questionnaires and the author's opinion.A comprehensive conclusion will be produced in the last chapter.
