The method of qualitative analysis is adopted in this study.Taking non-academic out-of-school learning as an example, this paper explores the reasons, paths and effects of students' participation in out-of-school learning, focusing on its effect in the development of students' moral quality. The interview method was used to collect, sort out and analyze the interview data of 10 students(from grade4 to grade 2 of primary school),6 parents, and 6 teachers(in and out of school).Based on the analysis of interview data, the reasons for students' participation in out-of-school learning include the intrinsic motivation of students' own development and the attraction of out-of-school education, which are also influenced by parents and peer groups. The intrinsic motivation of students' self-development is the main reason for students to participate in out-of-school learning, which includes social needs, intellectual needs,self-identity needs, aesthetic needs and self-realization needs. In the path of students' participation in out-of-school learning, students obtain information through media publicity, peer communication, parent selection,in-school interest class experience; In the decision-making process of choosing out-of-school learning, students optimize the way to participate in out-of-school learning through democratic consultation, balance and comparison, and overall arrangement. In the realization of out-of-school learning, students purchase market services(class saving, class sharing and tutoring)through different ways, and use public out-of-school learning resources to obtain out-of-school learning resources. The research finds that non-academic out-of-school learning can provide more practical opportunities for students in the curriculum, promote the development of students' moral qualities in a subtle way, improve students' moral awareness, enhance students' moral feelings, and cultivate students' moral behavior. In addition,out-of-school learning plays an important role in improving students' self-confidence and cultivating good interpersonal skills. The author suggests that we should further explore the moral education function of out-of-school learning, adhere to the combination of morality and intellect, pay attention to students' moral practice and develop students' moral quality.
