Since the issue of Chinese Curriculum Standard for General High school(2017 Edition),the whole book reading has attracted more and more attention.The new curriculum standard requires that the whole book should be read through three stages:compulsory,selectively compulsory and optional.Fiction is the main genre of whole book reading.It can be seen that this genre is an inevitable trend in the development of Chinese reading teaching in senior high school.Although the whole book reading is a life-long benefit for students,the current situation is undesirable.At the same time,in the academic circle,the research on the teaching strategy and method of reading the whole novel in high school is still in its infancy.Based on this,this paper believes that it is necessary to probe into the teaching strategy and method of reading the whole novel in high school.This paper consists of three parts:introduction,body and conclusion,and the body is divided into three chapters.The introduction firstly puts forward the problems,then introduces the research status both home and abroad,explains the significance and research method,and finally defines the key concepts of this paper.The systematic discussion of teaching strategies and methods on whole book reading exampled by a certain genre is still lacking.The existing research is not specific,and cannot set an example.Foreign countries attach importance to reading and the selection of books,thus having conducted some researches on reading method.The significance of this research lies in that it investigates the teaching and research status of the whole novel reading in senior high school and puts forward effective teaching strategy and teaching method for the whole novel reading.The main research methods are literature research,investigation,observation and case analysis.At last,this paper defines some concepts such as the whole novel,the whole book reading and the teaching strategy.The first chapter investigates the reading and teaching status of the whole book of novel in senior high school Chinese by methods of interview and observation,from the perspective of student and teacher.It finds some problems such as great resistance in teaching,disorder in teaching and low efficiency in reading.The reasons behind these problems can be summarized as follows:the influence of examination-oriented education system,insufficient time,insufficient attention to curriculum standards,separation of examination and teaching,lack of examples for reference and limited ability.The second chapter discusses the teaching strategy of reading the whole book of novel in senior high school Chinese.According to the problems in the investigation,this paper puts forward three teaching strategy:constructing a systematic curriculum system,adhering to the principle of "two-in-one" teaching and establishing a "double-center"teaching mode.To construct a systematic curriculum system and truly incorporate novel reading teaching into the Chinese curriculum system,efforts can be made in four aspects:defining curriculum objectives,formulating curriculum plans,standardizing curriculum implementation and emphasizing curriculum evaluation.Adhering to the principle of"two-in-one" refers to combining in-class and out-of-class reading,intensive reading and skimming,whole and special topic,individual reading and collective reading in the process of teaching novel reading.This paper put forward to establish a double-center teaching mode,give full play to the role of teachers and students.Meanwhile,students should play the main role in constructing the whole book reading experience,while teachers should play a leading role in organizing the whole book reading activities.The third chapter discusses the teaching method of reading the whole book of novel in senior high school Chinese.This paper divides the whole reading teaching process of high school Chinese novel into four stages:stimulating interest stage,entering reading stage,in-depth inquiry stage and post-reading expansion stage.Based on the current situation and the teaching strategy put forward in the previous chapter,this paper puts forward four specific teaching method:stimulating interest method,note-taking method,inquiry method and creative method.Interest-stimulating method aims at arousing students'interest in reading.Teachers can use movies and TV,book reviews,stories and questions related to novels to stimulate students' interest in reading in class.The purpose of note-taking is to help students develop reading habits.Teachers should teach students to circle notes,extract transcripts,make mind maps,and write reviews about partial or whole novel after reading.The purpose of inquiry method is to guide students to understand the novel deeply.Teachers can lead students from three aspects:the motivation of novel writing,its content and its adapted version.The Creation method aims to guide students to expand their output independently and deepen reading effect.Teachers can guide students to choose suitable characters or plots to create,leading them to write couplets or poems for characters,to expand or continue plots.In the concluding part,this paper clarifies the practical significance of the research on the teaching strategy and method of reading the whole book of novels in senior high school from two aspects:promoting the improvement of teaching and students' reading ability.
