As we all know,the Chinese textbook of junior high school published by people's education press is organized around a theme and a unit as a basic unit.But the current language teaching ignores the integrity and relevance of units,and divides the texts of each unit into single teaching.In the face of the limited time and more content of the text,many teachers are trapped in the situation of "taking the exam only" to catch up with the progress,and the reading teaching of the novel is also in such a situation.As we all know,most of the novels selected by the Chinese textbook of junior high school are the literary quality and beauty of the ancient and modern times.These novels play a very important role in expanding the students' knowledge view,cultivating the students' healthy aesthetic orientation,and improving the students' literary accomplishment.The current situation of novel reading teaching is that most of the teachers follow the traditional single teaching mode,from the introduction of the author's works,the content of the plot,the character image to the theme of the teaching process,and every repetition of the similar teaching mode.The whole teaching of the novel unit is based on the arrangement of Chinese textbooks,trying to change the traditional single teaching method,that is,to integrate a novel unit as a whole,integrate the elements of the unit,and give full play to the teaching function of the unit.The author intends to apply the theory of unit holistic teaching to the third unit of grade nine,with the theme of "juvenile growth" as the main unit.Taking a unit as the basic unit,starting from the integrity of the unit,we discover and excavate the learning value of each novel within the unit,find out the commonness and individuality that they serve the teaching objectives of this unit,and then integrate these teaching resources purposefully to improve the teaching efficiency as a whole.This article will discuss the feasibility and operability of the whole unit teaching from four parts.The first part is the investigation of the nine grade teachers and students,in view of the current situation of students' learning and the present situation of teachers' teaching in junior high school novels,and find out the existing problems and analyze the reasons.The second part is the theoretical overview of unit whole teaching.From the definition of the concept related to the whole teaching of the unit,the theoretical basis and the characteristics of the whole teaching of the unit,and the four aspects of the significance of applying the whole teaching theory of the unit to the meaning of the novel unit.The third part is mainly to combine the purpose of the Chinese novel in junior high school,to analyze the contents of the novel,and how to determine the content of the whole teaching of the novel unit and the principles that should be followed.The fourth part is based on the previous discussion to present the unit of the whole teaching thought in the novel unit of the practice case,that is,the third unit of the nine grade book of the human teaching edition is taken as an example to carry out the practice,at the same time to reflect and summarize the whole teaching of the novel unit.
